Groundhog Day once again. No sunshine. My app says it'll brighten up at tea time. Better late than never I suppose.

I wonder, what's the latest we have reached 20C for the first time in recent years?

The most "recent" time it took this long was in 2016 so 7 years ago now. It reached 20c for the first time on the 5th May that year. That was at Manchester airport though so will be a bit colder in Saddleworth. Looks like we'll be waiting even longer this year. But in 2015 we had to wait until the 4th June. Can't see it being that long this year but you never know.

A gloomy overcast morning, but the sun burst through after lunchtime to leave a lovely sunny afternoon. A max temp of 15.2C. A further uptick in temperatures this weekend by the looks of it and nice to see a risk of thunderstorms.

A dry start to the day and the long weekend but it looks like the sky is matching the forecast and the threatened heavy showers won’t ever be far away.

one of those times where locality is everything and the outdoor plans of some will get absolutely ruined while a few miles down the road, others will wonder what the fuss is all about.

a visit to the coast for us this afternoon to weigh up the options on buying a static caravan and then tomorrow is a day for doing some work at daughter and BF’s house in Yorkshire so apart from a couple of hours today, fortunately rain won’t make that much difference to my plans.

whatever you’re up to, enjoy👍

We seem to have struck lucky here this morning. The clouds have broken over the last hour and there's more blue sky than grey. It actually feels warm and spring like in the sunshine for the first time this year. No doubt we'll be back under the cloud shortly 🤦‍♂️.

It's looking 50/50 whether any substantial storms will break out into the afternoon around here, the short-range precip and Met Office Forecast was saying initiation beginning at 11am with full-blown cells (almost squall-line like) moving W to E, but that's all changed and being reflected by the stubborn cloud cover we have persisting at the moment.

In any case it'll be down to nowcasting and maybe a chase if things are 'green to go' in 2hr from now.

Cloudy start, brighter middle bit and then back to full cloud is as good as it’s got here so far.

Cloudy but a lot warmer than previous days. Off to Crewe Alex this afternoon for their last home game of the season, and hoping we don't get any heavy showers to spoil the party on and off the pitch.

I'm at Rochdale today home to Sutton. The last home football league match for what could be a while. Hopefully we can bounce back quickly. The National League is not an easy league to get out of. We could probably do with a couple of well timed heavy showers to calm down some of our idiots who want to cause a bit of bother.

Mid afternoon of 16 degrees, which feels warm in the sun. However, the clouds have bubbled up and threat of showers in the air. We had a brief light one an hour ago, but looking at the radar managed to escape mainly so far, some bright colours further south. Indeed has a thundery feel to it.

After a rather chilly April, it feels we've turned the corner now steadfast into late Spring when the plants go crazy and everything bursts into life.

There's not really been that much sun in this part of the region today, clouded in quite quickly this morning and been mostly cloudy this afternoon. Temperature reached 18.3C around midday, but currently 15.3C. Had a brief shower about an hour ago. Feels warm out, despite the cloud.

Mainly cloudy here but also had some nice bouts of sunshine.  Cloud now filled in, had a few big blobs of rain 20 mins ago.  Temp 17.4°C, dew point 11.4°C, feels just a tad muggy.  Blue sky appearing again.

Big downpour not long ago. No thunder though. Felt quite warm out and about in the ever strengthening sun.

The proper downpours have dodged here all afternoon. Some menacing looking clouds around though. It has that thundery 'feel' out. The sun is bursting through the cloud now and temp rising again, 16.6C. Light winds.
