I notice the house being cooler in Autumn after the summer. By Spring, I notice the same indoor temperatures as being too warm!

I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks of cyclonic weather: cold air aloft plus sunshine and ridiculously warm SSTs, is a good recipe for storms? 🤔

Only if the low becomes slack and is directly overhead with a cool pool aloft. Otherwise it’ll turn into a Pineapple Express-esq cloud ridden pile of tosh.

Wow really? Not even from the plume on the 12th?

There were a couple of occasions of heavy rain round then, but no thunder IIRC.

The temperature is rocketing here as the rain gradually moves east, up to 28c now

That summarises the problem quite well! To be fair I don't think it'll be as bad as the "Pineapple Express" of the Pacific NW though, which is very much an autumn/winter phenomenon; we don't seem likely to see a constant stream of active frontal systems, just an over-deep low in the wrong place.

Indeed, I agree that if it was a flabby slack low I'd be much more enthused.

Early July looks more cyclonic than July 2016 though.

This coming week, I agree - very July 2016.

In what way?

Temperature acclimatisation is a thing.

15C in March feels warm. 15C in late September feels cool. Same temp, but you're used to something colder in the first case and something warmer in the second.

So if it does drop to 19 after weeks of 25 it will "feel" cold to many. But as I said, I suspect that the next few days it won't.

Mate just let it drop. Some people just won't ever understand how some others need to acclimatise. No matter how much you explain to them.

I won't wear shorts until 25c unless i'm actively busy in the garden. But if indoors I won't.

I've explained on here i'm 7stone 4lb. So tiny and skinny. I get cold easily as I have no fat. And still people don't take these things into consideration. Every one is different. I don't understand Marko and yet I don't belittle and pick on him.

Fair enough. Had thunder here on:

02nd, 04th & 05th - very unstable rPm setup

12th - early hours; Spanish plume

21st - slack southwesterly; late pm after a warm day

25th - another unstable rPm day

29th - active cold front with a funnel cloud nearby

We had umpteen thunderstorms in August 2012, as it takes a fresh west or southwest wind to overcome the sea breeze.

I know, I wasn't criticising, I sometimes see people in coats at 20c lol

My son still wears his coat, or a hoody in this weather. He wears the hood, helps him feel safe I think, or hidden perhaps.

Why does he need to be hidden from his family?

Nope, when he's out and about, he doesn't like strangers. He goes selectively mute in busy places like school too.

Cloud and wind increasing from the west. Goodbye summer until at least mid July.

Down your part of the world there will be very little rain until next weekend at the earliest (leaving aside the drizzly nuisance values possible midweek).

Cloudy often yes, but still warm and dry for the most part.

UKV spot on again today with advertised maxes of 31-32c, which is exactly what we’ve got. Dunno where Arpege was pulling 34/35c from the last few days….too much 🍻 I reckon!

A rounded 31c at the moment, good chance we will record our warmest day of the year so far (currently 31.2c).

Still under quite a strong easterly breeze here which has kept a lid on temperatures slightly. Its currently 26.5C after reaching a high of 28.1C earlier. I'm wondering if we'll have a sudden switch to south-westerly with an increase in temperature before the front arrives. Hopefully the wind does switch or it'll be curtains for anything thundery for us.

Yeah that’s fair enough, but it’s the usual handful of cold lovers who seem to act surprised when most on here enjoy 25c plus type weather.

I don’t mind cold weather in the November to mid March period, but don’t find cloudy and cool weather appealing in April, May, or any other time until late September.

If we drop to 22-23, it will be ok, but I don’t want a return to cloudy rubbish with 21c and a chilly breeze.

My hands feel much better since this hot weather turned up. No blue hands.

Hot and sunny, 31c. A quite strong, hot wind blowing too.

The rain up north looks very heavy.
