Tell you what, anyone expecting a big improvement tomorrow will be in for a shock, a lot of cloud to clear and in places it’ll be slow to clear. Again with pressure being not high both tomorrow and Thursday will see a fair amount of Cu bubbling up.

This is not the case for many areas this morning- clear sky quite widely across the country.

It's not as simple as looking at the pressure when judging cloud amounts.

I seem to say it every year that as soon as we get a southerly/SE flow, cloud becomes less of an issue, even if pressure isn't that high.

Going to sleep covered in a sheet and no duvet as it was slightly mild and I was feeling a bit warm, I am surprised to wake up to condensation on the windows and dew on the grass in what is statistically the part of the year with the warmest nights on average!

It is such a mood-changer. I actually feel quite alert and awake this morning already. A marked change from most of the mornings the last 6 weeks.

Well...this is the start of "Summer 2023 - Chapter 2". It'll be gone again by the weekend so make the most of it folks. 😆

I miss those grey skies with the ‘Union Jack dangling in the chilly wind’ 🤣

Sky's clearing now on the Yorkshire Coast, shame the breeze is keeping temps pegged back, currently 15.5c, hopefully it will warm up as the day progresses,

A million times better today but temps ane only very slowly responding under the sunshine, only risen 2C in two hours with now wind, guess the saturated ground will use a lot of the suns energy.

I know a silly newbie question but may someone explain to me what has caused a very poor July. From my understanding it was caused by northern blocking driving the jet stream south giving cyclonic NWles and a stagnant pressure set up trapping the U.K. under a low. March this year seemed to also have a similar set up northern blocking firing up the jet.also what’s the main synoptic recipe for good and poor summers for the UK

It was very brief! Rolled in when I was grabbing my coffee (as per my photo), and now cleared!

My pessimism is hopefully understandable given the amount of sunny mornings that've given way to complete overcast skies in the last 5/6 weeks haha

There is in the west, honestly not sure how much more I can take of this cloudy cool weather, We've had 6 weeks of this and a lot of unusable weekends, enough already!  We had brief sun for 30 minutes and it just lifts the mood so much.  Can someone please tell me the rest of August and September is going to be sunny and warm please

Understandable 😂

We’ve been burned many times since June

Not if a certain group of people have their way.

I can’t say much else, otherwise I’ll be dragged back into the office once again for a disciplinary.

August hasn't been too much of an improvement, hopefully the second half is a vast improvement
