Seeing very distant occasional flashes of lightning from the cell over the NY Moors. We're talking a good 40/50 miles from here but its very apparent although not that frequent.

Wasn't expecting to see anything tonight so can't complain!

Hope for us yet then.

I would say so I thought I was seeing things at first definitely was lightning and echoes on the radar confirmed it.

But as we know they usually go everywhere bar here.

Even the rain has gone. Right night folks enjoy the lightning.

Channel doesn’t seem to be inhibiting storm development (elevated I’m guessing) - expanding quite nicely on radar - should be a great view from Plymouth

I knew from looking at the radar throughout today that it had been bad in Scunthorpe and it seems Glanford Park was right at the centre of it, with the most bizarre abandonment I've seen. Quite comical.

Scunthorpe's National League North game with Buxton is abandoned in stoppage time after torrential rain.

Apparently both teams tweeted the game had finished for full time. These quotes from the article made me laugh:

"There was no dialogue, or coming over to talk to us, and he only confirmed it was abandoned when all hell broke loose in the tunnel."

"He said the game was over when I went on the pitch and I asked what that meant because there was at least five minutes of injury time left."

"The game should have been abandoned earlier than it was because we missed a penalty, but the player couldn't see the ball."
