I’m actually quite cagey about elevated storms that occur before teatime, if the light is bright enough you’ll see structure but struggle to catch anything electrical. Recalling a storm near Alton a few years back where there was one constant rumble for about 2 hours and I saw absolutely no lightning at all. Was an experience but not worth the time, fuel and effort really.

mind you that day was the day I was in the vicinity of a positive strike which actually set the floor on fire - so that was cool 😃

I know what you mean.  On two occasions now I've been under a storm with frequent lightning and not seen a bolt or heard anything more than rumbling.  The most recent was June 25 this year near Bridlington (yes I drove that far).  Wasn't even worth uploading the video.  The discrete cell in Stoke yesterday on the other hand would have been more to my taste though.  My mum described its thunder as "disturbing".  Such quality wasted on her!

Definitely inflow wrapping around this beast and notable turning on recent scans, anyone in that zone needs to be paying major attention as could be tornado development IMO

Does the storm have some form of rotation heading towards the area you mentioned?

Is that becoming super cellular or just a decent storm? It looks to be veering more right than north now which is usually a tell tale sign I'm told?

watching this little system south of me - hoping that squal line turns into something interesting as it moves north..image.thumb.png.ba7b2443c0e821aff775ce664e7bfc63.png

I don’t think it is a squall line that, just an area of heavier rain. The whole area looks weakening anyway. To be honest could do without that mess coming up here. Better to generate fresh storms rather than hoping “a mess” to activate IMO.

Just to check what you're saying, this looks like its going to avoid us on current trajectory (Newton Aycliffe, just to the right of your purple zone. Are you suggesting there may be a chance of some activity from this nearby/here?

Ask because obviously i'd like to see it, feels like it's skirting to the north of us and because i have antennas i should probably disconnect PDQ if there's a risk in this locality as it stands!

Thanks

Absolute muck here on the Notts/Derbs border in Long Eaton. Can’t see anything of note happening today and it looks like everything that’s developing will either swing by west or east of us.

I got something from the TORRO website about the Severe Thunderstorm Watch in SE England.

The storm just missed me by miles, and it was constant thunder. Yeah i can put up with a bit of heat if mother nature is kind like this

Just for infos, i was watching the MK storm and there was a rotation of sorts on it.
