A few peels of Nearby thunder heard in the torrential rain,no visible lightning although I notice a strike near Brighton.

Brightning up now, feeling very humid and sky looks very unstable with convective parcels here and there.

once again models have over-exaggerated the risks.....havn't we all learnt our lesson yet? We must know by now any widespread storm risk across a swathe of the country turns out to be a grey mass of drizzle and clag instead.

UKV is a disaster after this mornings round, nothing apart from a tiny Kent clipper.

This is part of a Discovery channel’s documentary about this historic day in U.K. weather

Edit: after all that we get a rumble. Darn it that could have been in the show 😫

Raining all morning, on and off torrential and the odd lightening and thunder. I think there was more lightening and thunder early hours but I was out for the count…I think we are nearing 45mm of rain with in 24 hours, I have 2 x250 litre very full water butts.

it’s been heavier than in this video

Time to keep an eye on the Brest area (...stop it!) for the afternoon for this evening's potential storms for the SE

You’ve had numerous 25c days and sun, I felt the same when it got cooler here in Exeter at 19/20c from this week after 10ish days of around 25c. Hoping we still see some warmth at times, not ready for chilly weather just yet

it was 32c here last Saturday lol

Absolutely shocking so much for being in the thunderstorm warning should of just been a rain warning

Its mad isn't it. One second you're in a severe thunderstorm warning with flooding, The next. Not even rain.
My weather forecast has gone from thunder from 5pm to midnight to absolutely nothing.

I know it was showing good for my area at one point now it’s just boring rain

These storms are getting more organised, and they're not even modelled from what I can see. I'm going to plump for some positivity based on this and say I think it's a case of 'anything can happen' later on today:

Absolutely lashing down in Exeter, had heavy rain on and off since midnight, saw some great lightning in the early hours after staying up with a few glasses of fettercairn whisky. We’ve had a few flashes and bangs in with this rain. For me the forecasts and warnings were bang on. Despite it being dark and grey here it has delivered the goods, sun looks like it may break out in a min for first time all day. So for those who think because the sun isn’t out you’re still in with a chance, plus the sun wasn’t the fuel at 2am for these elevated storms. Good luck and don’t give up, atmosphere above is still fairly juicy!

Just need the lightning activity to increase and it's game on!
