Scilly - Saint Mary's pressure is now 960.3 hPa so that is equalling the lowest England November pressure in modern records. Should be close to 950 in 3 hours ish time.

I think your barometer has malfunctioned. There is no way pressure is that low in your location. I'm in Poole, Dorset and pressure here is 978, which is bang on according to meteociel with Essex being around 985 at the moment.

How accurate are mobile phone barometers? this is what I'm showing on my phone at the moment. It was at 975.2 about 5 minutes ago! it's undoubtedly not as accurate as a calibrated one, but it's fun to see it drop in real time.

Scenes from the Dawlish webcam show conditions deteriorating. 60 mins ago the spray from the waves were just about reaching the railway track but now the wwbcam which is quite a way up is getting covered in spray

Seen lightning from it too.

West Wilts wind has picked up over the last hour. Rain seems to have reduced in rate. Sources: scientific VELUX window rain check and listening to the wind.

I note that the wind here is coming in more from the ESE. It seems as though it has backed more than what some charts showed. That's a poor direction for here, hence why my wind speeds have dropped right off.

My Grandad's old barometer seems to be doing well, reads 978.6mb (after doing the conversion).

Just for reference; Most forecasts show it should be gusting to 50mph here, with 10 minute average speeds of 26mph.

It's actually gusting to around 20mph now, and 10 minute average speeds of 12.5mph. 😵‍💫

Family in Southampton are reporting a decidedly underwhelming event so far too.

So is it just moving slower than forcast? NE Hants forecast was for 40mph gusts at this time, so far just a bit of rain.

Latest 18z runs keep this pretty much a channel Islands event. Strong winds east of isle of wight tomorrow gusting 70mph on coasts but pretty normal elsewhere across the south. Bed time for me. All hype as usual!
