Suspicious looking disconnect just to the south of me with the potential for a tornado to develop in there.

Is that the French Doppler? Is that the only part of the uk covered.

Anyone know why the metoffice never ever releases Doppler imagery.

Distant thunder to south about 1/2 hour ago. Thought I heard hail when in church this morning.

Phenomenal rainfall here overnight from 10.30pm with the front stalling over the East Midlands.

Rivers Nene, Upper Avon, Soar etc are as high as I've seen them since 2012

Lots of heavy down bursts happening here at the minute, on the 3rd one in half hour, no thunder yet, but look to be in a line for more. Wind comes with them.

Not sure copyright would be an issue. It’s just a bit weird.

They don't have any public  or commercial offerings for doppler based stuff. We ask every year!

Just seems odd as it would be hugely informative to so many in this country. Think the Doppler networks been in play since about 2018?

Yeah, I must admit I expected them to have made something available before now. I think ultimately it's a commercial viability thing. It would be quite niche without much of a market, so they probably don't see a route to recouping whatever it may cost them to package it up, process it,  disseminate it etc.

My grandmas house was hit by some very strong winds. The fake turf was ripped straight out of the ground and flung around the house to the dustbin shed. The chairs they had outside were scattered across the garden and one ended up underneath the churches window.

Happy new year everyone 🥳Here's to 2024

One of the poorest years I can remember, not a single storm in Summer, only one 5/10 effort in September and just the odd few rumbles here and there before and after.
