Thank god for that, a new page that can load without a multitude of links or heavy burden on browser, to some looking for recent Storm activity with slow internet.

@Robert1981 The 3rd one you asked it is the UKMO / Iceland Lightning detection. Or ADT Network.

Yep also been watching out the window at the few flashes towards Nottingham from here in Belper.. strong wind gusts too at my elevated position. Most exitingly though the power just went out for a large area toward Nottingham, Perhaps Eastwood, as all the light pollution for a large swathe of the horizon in that direction diappeared all at once!

Wind has calmed down now that the rain has arrived, looking a bit more quieter on the radar as well

It’s quite faint but it’s definitely lightning, my first time seeing it in December.

Looks like this was the cell responsible for the strong winds/tornado

I live In Stalybridge and it was pretty intense rain, wind and hail for about a minute, then it stopped. I thought my windows would blow in! lots of sirens in town for the last hour and pictures of damage appearing on the internet.

Radar around the time of the possible Staybridge tornado. There was a sudden momentum surge from a shower merging into the main cell you can see here. This occurring in an area of 50 knots of shear and nearby soundings suggest a hooked hodo w/strong streamwise vorticity.

Here's how the convective system looked at around 10:40pm from the Goyt Valley looking west out over Cheshire, the lightning had died off by then so didn't stick around to have seen anything else.

Well, the level 2 did suffice from estofex it seems? Good job on them, woke up from Christmas dinners and they got it right.

Torro was sleeping oh wait yes, must be the sprouts. They have a warning. Now?

Strange weather here, although no lightning. Very strong winds and then it got very wild must of been 55 - 60mph gusts for around a minute or so with some decent sized hail stones, hitting the windows and roof, very loud. Then is all went quieter just with still a gusty wind but no where near as strong and normal showers. The storm in North Wales looked impressive and the severe weather elsewhere too especially with the possible tornado.

Wow what a profile! 250+ eff inflow SRH with strong streamwise hodos. 109ML cape but its all concentrated in the lowest 3km (80 3cape) would of really helped any tornadogenesis. Lapse rates are also really good, especially the low level LR. This all combined with very strong  upper level shear. That small cell merging into the main cell likely initiated an RFD surge leading to the tornado.

May just be me but 2023 seems to of been very active in tornado terms.

Roofs are torn off houses, trees are blown down and walls collapse in Tameside during Storm Gerrit.

This storm definitely felt powerful when it passed over me. The hail, wind and loud booming nature of the thunder made me think it was more than a standard a storm.

The tornado damage is pretty significant from a UK perspective. Looks not too far off the damage from the tornado in Jersey a couple of months ago which I think was rated T6/EF2.
