mins ago on the M5 in Worcester, now in the heavy rain heading north. What a cloud formation.

Mid next week seems to be catching my eye on some recent output.

Very low heights / pressure shown, much stronger sun strength, upper level cold pool giving some large lapse rates, and I think that could be quite conducive to some April style showers and even some storms popping off. Still a while away at this stage but a sub 960mb low I would have thought would be record breaking a few days from April if it reaches somewhere into Ireland or Wales.

Evening everyone.

Well today has been the first day this year that I have seen decent convection happening.

Sadly no electrical activity, but I did get a fair amount of hail around 18:00 this evening.

Anyway… Here’s hoping that 2024 is a good and convective one for all of us.

I love the structure of this cloud, has to be the best cumulonimbus / nimbostratus cloud I've seen  since 2020

As convective season is well underway now, think its time to turn all the attention to storms now. Some lively hail showers here today with some gusty winds. Also some nice cloudscapes between the showers. Surprised how much lightning has been in some of the showers in the south. Hopefully a good sign for the rest of spring and summer.

Hail mixed in a few of them, but couldn't spot any mammatus clouds surprisngly; seen a few photos of some stunners in the south east elsewhere. Dropped to 4.5°C at 11:30 during one of the showers. Feels like winter when the sun dissappears in the clouds / showers!

A stunning afternoon for a walk at the edge of the military training area near Warminster. Lots of sunshine, a fresh wind and spectacular storm clouds. Also a radar grab to show the shower producing the hail streaks.

Showers with hail and thunder mentioned by Chris F on the BBC forecast for the week ahead, mainly later in the week in southern regions of England.

Hoping for more storms like this during the year. 

From September last year, a completely isolated supercell in a 2,500+ mlcape environment, not often you get these environments over here!

Satellite doesn't do it justice in showing just how discrete this cell was, just surrounded by clear skies. 

Dont often get setups with much CINH/capping but when we do it can create some absolute beauties

 WeatherArc indeed. Very rare setup ,and given skies were clear ,the thunderstorm could be seen up to 80 miles away. A rare beaut which may not be seen again in that set up for donkeys years to come.☺

It's March so not expecting MCS's and spectacular electrical displays but some prospects for thunderstorms/thundery showers over the next few days. Tomorrow looks to be western areas mainly. From Thursday onwards the risk probably more widespread. 

I know we really don't need any more rain but still nice to see thundery weather in the forecast.

Certainly should be a little more active these next few days, widespread thundery showers the theme for the next few days, until Saturday at least. 

Not good at the technical bits, but let's hope for some decently active and long lived storms, even if it's a little early in the season!
