This evening more showers moving in. Endless amount of wispy anvils in different directions

Sleet haily rainy mix went horizontal at such a strength you could see the curtains falling even in the dark for about 20 seconds.

I was in Steying during my respite stay when on the way back to the car park in fletcher croft the hail shower hit. It started to get slightly bigger when I got in, stinging me but apart from that its not big enough to cause some major damage.

As it's quiet at the moment in terms of convective activity, I tend to browse on Google street view and sometimes check if there's anything interesting of note in terms of convection or anything weather related really, in the UK ( but can be international too!)

Convective Outlook️

A couple lines of showers and thunderstorms could form in areas of cloud clearance on Friday. With 600+ J/KG of SBCAPE possible in areas aiding sporadic lightning. The two lines most likely appear to be forecasted roughly from the SW ENE-wards towards Essex and perhaps parts of Suffolk and another one likely weaker from south Wales towards north eastern parts of England.

 

Both of these should move slightly SSE after forming in the afternoon and fade into the evening having formed along wind convergence zones forcing PV lobes in those 2 areas it appears, the southern mode having more energy to work with.

 

Cloud coverage and saturation appears to be quite high in most areas limiting the lightning potential of showers and how many showers form. 100+ J/KG of 3CAPE in arwas may help with that but not much.

 

Some small hail is possible because of the energy but most of it is held in the low-levels. Weak shearing limits that again.

Just had a heavy shower northern section of the m25 around 13.45pm no lightning I saw.

We've had a heavy shower too but no thunder / lightning. Clouds suggest it may not be the last today!

Very localised heavy shower formed over Lincoln an hour ago. It was like someone turned on a shower for about 2 mins then turned straight off.

A few captures from yesterday afternoon. Nothing thundery of note, but nice to see some more unstable skies this month, most of the showers missed my location, but then one eventually passed overhead at around 16:30 and was surprisingly heavy. 

 

 

Bit of a bonus photo, a bird of prey (Red Kite I think it was) took an interest to the drone while taking photos of the heavy showers

About to get a very heavy shower, gone very dark looking North though about a mile or two away from the bright colours
