A dusting of snow this morning, a slow thaw is underway. Will take until Sunday I imagine before fully thawed ground, even with tomorrow's forecast rain and much milder weather.

I'd give this cold spell 2/10 for my location.

A 7 out of 10 for cold, 3 ice days in 4 days is good going.

A 4 out of 10 for snow, the mild sector spoilt things.

Same here though we had a shower of soft hail about 9 GMT.   Will be a good while before we warm up properly.  Stone buildings are now very cold, though south sides are warming a bit  in the weak sunshine this afternoon.

Temp now 3.6c

We've had the best of the sunshine and cold today, just right for walking rather than trying to de-ice the car. Only now starting to cloud over but still bright with little or no wind. All change over the weekend it seems!

Yeah 4cm of snow here for 6 days is really trivial here.

Considering your elevation and a sweet spot then yes

So , the end of the cold spell underway, still some stubborn snow patches on the back yard grass but can't imagine they will be there too long. One weather extreme to another looking pretty blowy this weekend for all. I think a quick scan to make sure all pots and other garden items are secured down will be the first job for tomorrow morning!

4.1°C but still very icy around here and becoming slippery as it melts a bit. Nothing much down the hill in the town centre.

Reached 3c this afternoon so the + temperature day here since Monday but still very little thaw of the snow on my north facing drive.

highly likely this will change over the weekend though as mr mild crashes the winter party with his equally unwelcome mates, wet and windy.

Not much snow has shift yet.  Seems a cold thaw to me.  Temp 3,1C.

All cloudy now and there's a chilly wind.

Snowdops are wary, even on a warm sheltered south facing bank.

Do I clear this lot or do I hang fire and let tomorrows rain do it for me.

only problem with the lazy option is that I can only get one car on the flat top bit of the drive with the other sitting on the road so maybe it’s time to get off my backside and burn some calories.

It'll be gone by this time tomorrow.  Personally I'd let nature do the work for me 🙂  ............

But if you pile it all up, some will be left days later.

From 2010: the ManU carpark had a pile of snow 10 weeks later.

True, but I would rather it had melted and gone than have to look at that dirty brown mess! 😂

-5.0 C in the marginals overnight, currently-0.3. Been bright with high cloud all day, followed by nice pink sunset, snow hanging on in shady areas, I expected it to melt totally today. Fax chart at 72 hrs looks a little exciting- I reckon possibility of further extensions  to orange warning area.

A decent day again today, not as cold as the previous days, but still chilly. Sunny for much of it with increasing cloud cover through the afternoon. Max temp 5.3C. The footpaths are still treacherous on places with patchy frozen snow cover.

I would rate the cold spell as 6/10 for this location. An inch of snow early Tuesday and another dusting yesterday and some decent frosts. The cold spell originally looked like it had the potential to deliver more, but still a reasonable effort.

Yeah a 6/10 spell here it's a shame it couldn't have had more depth and severity but a reasonable cold spell, the NW probably seeing the best of the winter conditions out of all areas away from NI & Scotland - funnily enough last Winter 2022/23 saw some similar amounts of mid January snow locally too, had a 2-3cm fall here in Cheshire around the 18th Jan 23, following a very cold start to December not too dissimilar give or take a few days to this winter 2023/24 but this mid Jan 2024 cold snap certainly beating Jan 23 for overnight cold lows seeing -8c early Thursday morning, not quite the -9c/-10c seen in Dec 2022 though. A few very mild 12-14c days this coming week, a gradual cooling of temps to average, occasionally just below or slightly above average as well as a settling down of the weather late month into early February but I can't see much real wintry interest till around mid Feb 10th Feb onwards tbh now though.

Sorry, Kasim

having 350M+ does not guarantee you gold medal every snow event. By the looks of things, you did not get anywhere near Bronze medal in this cold spell.
that’s life !
