Is that a figure for S Lancs region?     Up in the hills  we've had 3 Januarys with totals over that in the last 54 years including the record we've recorded -- Jan  2021,  with 300.6mm.    Many over 200 mm.  @Weather-history

A cold wet January Monday. Current temp 5.0 degrees with steady rain. Spadeadam only at 2.5 degrees. Radar not showing any green or red over the fells but I expect there will be quite a bit of wet snow to modest heights, 500-600m mark upwards.

A bit of rain, nothing spectacular.

Main thing is the darkness today. Not usually this dim, even on other wet January days 🤔

Rain now and all morning.   Penetrating cold damp.  Thermometer at 6.6C but doesn't feel that warm.

Bored of this Winter now. 1/10. Expectations in December are always falsely high that this year will be different but alas no big freeze just wind and rain.

Its a considerably darker & dull day here than usual with a slight 'tinge' to the clouds that's due to the Saharan Dust mixed in with the rain which is still passing overhead. A slight increase on yesterday's temperatures at 9.5'c so the cold front hasn't crossed just yet.

Will be interesting to see if we do get any dust mixed with the rain here… dusk esque light levels… the birds are very active today and making their appearance known… maybe it’s the light levels but there are definitely more about than yesterday when we did the rspb survey…

9c and 92mm for the month… 12mm so far today…

Very dark today but not as wet as I was expecting for Manchester apart from a bit of a heavy pulse after lunch. Looks like the main band of the heavy rain went slightly further North than forecast?

Been tonking it town all day today at 3-4c. Could be quite a lot of snow above 600m. Not that you can see any higher than about 200.

edit.. webcam at Hartside shows wet snow at 580m.

Not as bad as I thought, this morning was wet. Managed to stay dry doing a few errands on foot this pm. Nudging 12°C.  Low cloud has sat on the tops all day, been quite foggy on the Cat road.

As said if you described a drab Monday in January it would be today. Very dismal, its going dark now. Stuck on 5 degrees exact all day and persistant moderate rain non stop, little wind only saving grace. Roll on something better please.

North of the region seems to have seen the heaviest of the rain but a dark dreary day all round - heavy bursts of rain alternating with drizzle and a drier spell this afternoon, moderate rain currently, 12c the max daytime temp so thankfully not as chilly in the south of the region as forecast by some models ☔️

A most miserable, dark, drizzly day here today.  Local park once again resembles a mud bath. Very gloomy indeed. Roll on tomorrow.

Vile wet day.   Heavy spells earlier this evening.   Can't believe the sun may shine tomorrow.  Pushing today's max now 7.5C    How odd..
