NickyB noticed that as well,do they use high res graphics nearer the time,as it showed totally different graphics last night, either they have nailed this with pretty much a non event under 250m or they have got it totally wrong,Sod’s Law say the former.

off to bed after a night shift hope to wake up to better news but I doubt it.

 cheshire snow

Looking a none event below 200m now, maybe a little snow followed by drip drip by noon. Downgrades overnight with the heaviest precipitation further north into Northern England, with milder uppers further north too.

High ground near Buxton now not likely to see 50cm, more like 15-20 max.

Lower down, even 1000ft I would expect any snow to turn sleety late afternoon with a thaw setting in. Those mild uppers by even as early as 3pm are pretty damning

Yesterday's rain cleared has away and a dry but cloudy start to today, and noticeably a bit chillier than recently, with a bit of ice on the windscreens but not on the roads and paths.

To be honest, I'm tending to side with those who think tomorrow will be more of a washout than a whiteout, certainly in this part of the Region. I know nothing about the science and models of the weather which we see on the MOD thread, but I do think it is currently too mild for snow to fall and settle.

Well it is currently too mild for snow to fall and settle. Colder air seeps south this evening and overnight.

Low of 0°C, currently 1.5°C overcast and dry, far better than yesterday's wet washout.  Met O forecast midday tomorrow mirror's the UKV chart.  Still unsure what will fall on my garden shed, rain, sleet or big fluffy white flakes, nose against the window and nowcasting tomorrow.😁❄️❄️☔⛄

Nothing wrong with that.

Frost last night.  Now calm, quiet and undecided.  Both me and the weather.  I see from the fax forecasts that the Scandi High will be pushing its foot further in the door over next 2 or 3 days.  So some drying east winds would be OK.

A light frost this morning, current temp 1.7 degrees. Radar shows a band of wintry precipitation moving into north Cumbria. Relatively low ground may receive a light cover in the next few hours. Might even see a few sleety flakes here.

Absolutely detest working in Kirkham on a day like tomorrow. Would love to be up a big hill Rossendale area.

All there is left to do is look out the window and see what falls.

I can nearly touch the Amber warning.

Interesting to see the warning zone shift south again, not that I think the description that accompanies it increases confidence in snow in low lying parts. I think it's just a cover your back warning. I guess cold rain is in order with sleet. Then again do i want a big dump if temps are due to be 10c on Friday, probably not.

Just seen the warnings. I agree with the text of the amber warning. Think the yellow one is Conservative. I would expand the amber region NE but keep the text the same.

russwirral that sounds about right. Maybe 7 – 8 hours then dry for a bit and then snow/ice pellets/rain mix in the evening. Will try and do a prediction for different locations later after the 12s

Central Manchester is in the yellow snow warning zone, a few miles from the amber and still receives zero snow, just cold rain 😅

I expect the GM Snow shield will put paid to anything seriously wintry in my area, which is a shame because I think everything will be conducive for quite a decent spell of snow but alas my part of Oldham is more towards Failsworth which shares the M postcode rather than 'Black Chew Head' (542 m) which will probably get buried...both areas share the OL postcode but may as well be in different countries never mind counties!

Still not to far to travel to see a bit of wintry wonderland.😉
