Some stronger echos now off suffolk coast...will they move in and develop?

Expect the heaviest precipitation to be from 1-4 with more of that being proper snow the later in the day as the colder 850s move over us, it looks it should be fairly widespread from current radar as well.

Snowing again in Brighton near the Downs, so fine but plentiful!  Upgraded from a dusting on rooftops (which was going but now coming back again!) to also a dusting on the grass.  Getting heavier.  Sqweeeeee!

The only chance of seeing a flake here is probably on the confectionery section of the local supermarket…..

Just visiting to say good luck folks. I was lucky enough to be living in SW London during the Feb 2009 event - really magical and stands out as one of my favourite snow memories. If I recall correctly that 'sea effect' event was not modelled too well and the warnings only really came out as it started! Hopefully this one has been underplayed somewhat by the models. Early radar returns starting to shape up nicely...

I think I was in London for that one. Ended up taking a night bus back to Catford, then a taxi to Dartford, then driving home very slowly on the M2. Left the venue at 10pm, got in at 6am. I have a photo somewhere of me punching the air outside my front door!

A good 6/10 in Leigh on Sea and trying to settle but only small flakes. Some will do well today a bit further inland and with elevation.

Just had a couple of minutes of pretty heavy sleet/snow and I'm right by the coast after rain for a while and it settled pretty impressively, bodes well for later.

If i recall that was the time i worked a 36 hour continual shift because our day shift relief all lived in Medway Towns and couldn't get into london to relieve us coming off our night shift.

A few flakes in the breeze in Mill Hill, despite a clear radar. Must be blowing ahead of the mass of precipitation, as the wind is quite strong at times

It came out of nowhere, was seeing a comedian, when we arrived it was dry and chilly. After the first support act I popped out for a smoke and it was snowing. When we came out after the headliner it was 6inches+ thick laying snow!

We made it to Charing Cross just as the boards all changed to 'cancelled'. Ended up drinking in a very trendy gay bar as it was one of the only places open, paying 10 quid for a beer just to keep out of the snow while we waited to see if the night bus would still run. 

A proper adventure!

MOGREPS give a high (90%+) probability of >1CM across Sussex, NW Kent, Surrey and higher ground of S London today. A much smaller <10% probability of >5CM. We should see surface convergence begin to focus showers into N Kent/SE london > Sussex this afternoon.

Had snow here in Brighton for a couple of hours. Mainly flurries, lightest of dustings. Hopefully a sign of something more to come 🙂
