Polar Maritime I would love a thunderstorm. But I'll believe it when I see it. 😁

Weather Enthusiast91 Oh no, I don't want to make you jealous, but...I got a cracker of a thunderstorm last week when I was in Den Haag, and I'm working in Leeds this week, just arrived...and right on cue, a couple of flashes and a deep rumble of thunder! Sorry...😉

Weather Enthusiast91 Very much so! To both points. It's really rumbling away here in Leeds City Centre atm, when I left Solihull it was a lovely day, sunny and 20c...as you say though, nice to see a good storm. We could have months of this on and off, if we're lucky! 🙂

Weather Enthusiast91 You guess? We got the rest of May, June, July, August, September and even October for a storm, the season has only just begun 😏

I'll take that for a bank holiday weekend. Plenty of warm sunshine , spent most of it outside and only a 10 minute rainy spell.

Bostin.

Yep, it's been pretty good overall. Yesterday was my warmest day of 2024 so far at 19.0 °C, and we were only 0.2 degrees short of that today. A decent amount of sunshine, too. Might hit 20 °C for the first time later this week, too. Not much sun in the forecast, which is a shame, but still better than hours of cold rain.

A splendid day yesterday. Smashed my 2024 high by almost three degrees (21.9 °C) and there was a good amount of sunshine right through the day. Not clear blue skies, but not just the odd glimpse of sunshine either. Light winds, pleasant outdoors, not quite hay fever season for me yet! More of this today would be grand.

Massive fire over cannock causing some clouds to build above it.

I'm back in Solihull having had a few days working in Leeds...by gum, it's a cracker today. Like a summer's day! The car said 22c on the way down, I needed the aircon on in the car for the first time this year...!

After all the cold, rainy dull weather, this feels like mid summer.

Sparkiee storm Aye, could see the smoke plume from Stafford at 6.40am, then still there on my trip to King's Bromley, in Lichfield was trying to 'cloud' over the sun! still see smoke but much less at 6pm in Stafford

Sparkiee storm Yes that fire was a big one, 08:30 i took the drone up quicky as i was already late for work, just like this reply!!

I could see it easy too from work near Cosford.

I had a parcel to pick up at Hendesford at 4pm yesterday and still smoking then.

My brother sent me the aftemath photo too, unsure of the time of take though.

Had a look for the aurora, but sadly there's some annoying high cloud in exactly the right (wrong) spot, plus too much light pollution in that direction. Never seen it, and unless I go much further north and am lucky I doubt I ever will.

On a happier note, another excellent day here. 23.6 °C is another new high in 2024 for me, and there was more sun than I expected. It did feel just a tad more humid than for the last couple of days -- perhaps an early sign of what awaits on Sunday? Hopefully there'll be one more fine day tomorrow before we get there, as next week looks... well, not awful, but certainly uninspiring.

Someone told me where to look, and now I have seen the aurora! Only with the naked eye so it's nowhere near as bright as in some of the photos, but still incredible. Never seen it before in my life!

Aurora was amazing last night, never seen anything like it. I went up the hill by Red Lake in Telford, so it was only moderately dark, but I could make out the colours with the naked eye. Feels surreal to finally see it after years of looking and seeing nothing.

BhamBoy Yes, same. Thought/ hoped that it might be sunnier. Still, a good little run of late Spring weather, something seasonal at least.
