Hopped against hope but no, it always seems to go against us. Can anyone remember the last time when they said it would rain and we had surprise snow?

Still completely rain at 95m asl, it's been quite heavy and no sign of any sleet or snow. If the snow level was 200m we should be seeing at least some bits, reckon it's more like 400m (it nearly always seems to be higher in Shropshire than the Peak District for some reason)

Fozfoster There was a day a few winters ago where it rained heavy all morning, turned to snow just before lunchtime, and was a few inches deep by the end of the day. Caught Stoke by surprise. Met Office didn’t put out a warning until the snow was on the ground.

Dare I say it but some early over reactions happening. The cold and the snow was always forecast for later. Patience, young grasshoppers.

In the interest of transparency it is just cold rain at present in Belper. I have faith though. The snow is coming

Belper will do just fine out of this, won't be marginal there come 9am.

Just woken up and it's raining, just pure rain, not even sleet. I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up 😂 it's my day off, so i'm going back to bed 🤣

Heavy snow here with a thin covering.

Arrived at work in Shelton. Not even the slightest hint of wintriness in the air. Biggest weather let down I've seen since moving to Stoke. Why did I tell people it would definitely snow? Appalling performance from the models.

MattStoke I think the GFS has to take some Credit for this. Even on Monday, it had the milder air further North than most other models. Some models even 2 days ago had the snow as far South as Oxford 😂 shocking performance.

andy_leics22 same I already had today booked off before the hint of snow so a chilled day at least... definitely not because of the weather lol

MattStoke yup I see your frustration. Weaver hills behind us which are elevated not even a hint of snow.

We were in the Amber Area but nope nothing. I refrained from telling anyone it was going to snow this time. It seems to keep being the case nowadays a full day of snow turns to rain hours before.
