AltonMatthew I've never got a snow prediction wrong here before so I was confidently telling everyone. Most confident I'd ever been. Will never be so confident again!

It wasn't meant to be. No entrenched cold before today, temperatures haven't gone below freezing for most places, ground temps are higher than normal after a very mild week and dew points were about on the line as you can get.

You had to question the models over the past few days that it predicted anything other than what we see today.

MattStoke I think in terms of how far North they forecast the milder 850's by 9am today, they were pretty much spot on. It did upgrade a bit for you in Stoke, but never looked on the cards for me on the GFS model. ARPEGE was showing some silly amounts a couple of days ago for Leicester. 5-10cm 😂

Wet snow falling here, just starting to whiten the fields at 290mts. 1cm at 340 mts.

And out from my last post and guess what? Still heavy cold rain not a hint of anything wintry what a waste of a yellow snow warning. 😞🤬😬😒

It's crazy how marginal this is. Driving the kids to school and on the road maybe 20m higher than my house It's falling as sleet, but rain at my house. Probably snowing on top of the Wrekin...

Hope it’s ok being an “imposter” from the snow starved south east on this forum! Arrived for a weeks break yesterday to a cottage just outside Wincle, near The Roaches. around 250-300m asl I think.

Moderate snow currently which is settling well on the grass. We’re right on the edge of the Amber so hoping for the heavier stuff later.

Reports in the amber warning area in Wales show heavy rain.

Unless it's expected to change later there, it's a big fail. Roll on spring, models look warmer later next week.

MattStoke A mixture of snow and sleet in Bucknall, if it was to get a little heavier? ProbablY going to be a frustrating day, seeing cars coming down from Werrington with snow covered roofs!

As expected, woke up this morning to heavy rain. Not even sleet!

Actually got wet snow now but with proper flakes. No chance of settling but at least I can chop off a tiny bit of embarrassment.

Met office getting a caning on social media for issuing that warning on Monday, surely it's better than being unaware though. And it gave everyone a lot to talk about.

Horrible morning
