  1. Last model run of the year-The best we got on latest GFS a Northerly toppler but better than what weve got now Happy new year all lets hope for a better start to the 2023 models
  2. Hopefully the PM becomes AM if not some sort of Easterly wind vector down the line (usually February&March though) when suns a factor. Noone wants cold rain and windy weather ehich PM gives 90% of the population unfortunately. Id much rather cold and dry from north even though its generally snowless also
  3. I'd love to see more of Latvia and the Baltics in general loved Riga 1c and about 3 or 4cms snow when I went early December 2019 very festive and beautiful buildings everywhere there!
  4. Off to Cork, Ireland early hours tomorrkw my first visit to that mystical green land of the Leprechauns looks like I wont be needing my thermals but a good raincoat and scarf- unbelievable difference in temps and weather from Stansted airport to Southern Ireland! -3c over here + double figures by late morning there!
  5. 18inches of snow in London where the hell has this come from no way this has to be a bluff? Unless it includes sleet and non settling
  6. I'll be surprised if we see any more of the white stuff down here my end, historically when We've had 1 half decent sort of snow event (had about 3to 4 inches here Sunday night in most of NW Kent from what ive seen) we very rarely get any more falls for the rest of the winter bar the odd flurry thats occurred, even 2009 we didnt do that great compared to CS England etc and apart from 28th Nov to 1st Dec 2010 the last 1foot+ fall here courtesy of a Thames streamer we had very little after this for the rest of the winter. I'll take the surprise 3.5inches we had be happy with and pray we go against the usual yearly snowfall pattern in without getting my hopes up. Heres some pics from my walk today in the local Ancient forest near me. The models would suggest it will all be gone this weekend oh well it was nice while it lasted.
  7. GFS basically good for Scotland and NW Crap for the South and East with little wintry prospects but tbh were used to this most winters status quo resumes alternating between Mild Westerlies and PM air with possible temporary falls on higher ground further NW
  8. Looks nice and wintry for the Arctic char out NW but how do we get that to push a few hundred miles SE?
  9. I used to work in Welwyn for a few months part time caring for some disabled children on Peartree Lane when I went to uni in Hatfield back in the day just after I got into this Netweather forum, all I think of is that posh little shopping centre there and the old Shredded wheat factory you could smell as soon as you got off the train. My best uni mate also was from there. Nice enough place but I thought to myself I'd be bored sh##less as a kid, growing up around there or Hatfield where I was living. Although they have built quite a bit more there now. Was nice being in Herts but I couldn't find a man's clothes ship in all of St Albans and I found in general people much more reserved, and a bit standoffish than here in the Garden of England& gateway to Europe where were used to having to greet and meet all different sorts of people all the time. Family came from East Kent originally the oldest civilisation in the country! I was living in Herts for the Feb 06 snow event from a channel low there was about 6inches of snow which stuck around a couple days atleast yet back home in Dartford, Kent it was already melting the day it fell and was only half as much. This current spell has been more impressive for here atleast much better having snow when the suns weaker and with everyone's Christmas lights up. Changing the subject- what's the record for this time of year Temps wise going from cold to warm to cold? This latest GFS ensemble setfor both SE and NW England looks impressive.
  10. Well in my 3.5 years working on the railway that was the most physically strenuous 12hour shift but I loved every minute! Joy of working outdoors, surprisingly there were a few trains still running especially Thameslinks (for a change!)
  11. Been shovelling and ice melting most the night my back aches! Lovely to be out in it for once i honestly doubted whether it would settle as it hardly ever does here in NW Kent!! Think theres more here than at home it seems which makes sense. Around 4inches here. Some earlier photos a couple before it stopped 20221211_224319.mp4 20221211_221642_1.mp4
  12. Awww My great nanny Glyde was from Robertsbridge fond memories there lovely big rural house hope you get the white stuff heavy!
  13. 3-4cms here in NW Kent id take that anyday lol. UKMO now apparently shows a lot more over a wider area too. Also I notice the band of snow in central- Western England seems to be heading very very slowly E/NE could it spring a surprise?! We also have this from BBC last attachment 20221211_061839_1_1.mp4
  14. This is virtually on your doorstep seems on radar to be heading very slowly NE and intensifying!! Was it forecast? Not sure Fine by me ill be in tropical Southern Ireland for my first visit then hopefully that ridges up to Greenland and we get a reload from the NE for my return home
  15. Hope they will recover well love cats used to have several of em i got crazy conure parrots and Red footed tortoises instead now lol. Better choices for a 1st floor flat. My new build is so highly insulated i was dying in the summer but now its paying off no heating on! Room temps still 18.5c!
  16. Ive checked all the precip charts I can remember except UKV(+ theres no 0z UKMO) It only runs 10hrs out for some reason on Meteociel. Conclusion- all models look good for my region except this from Icon which is only good for East Kent (my mums neck of the woods) Not sure how good Icon is im sure I remember ir showing snow before here (which didnt occur) in winters passed
  17. Now thats more like it from Harmonie 0z run not often this areas close to the sweet spot unless we have a very rare convective Thames Streamer. Hopefully it will be more expansive and fall as SNOW rather than sleet etc fingers crossed for everyone in our region
  18. Is there not a newer 0z run out yet. This looks more promising for more of us i wonder if the model recognises sleet as snow too as Met office icons give me snow and sleet for one hour two now but better than just dry as before! BBC gives me just snow
  19. Sleet for here inland NW Kent bordering London/Essex not what I was hoping to see but im used to it were such a heat island here UKV and other models still give me hope
  20. I knew it the day after I leave NW Kent for Cork! And you watch it verify anyway hows things looking here this time tomorrow? Ive had a migraine all day probably from watching footy/,checking weather apps and model fatigue lol
  21. I'm in that area of Kent which is in its own microclimate. Bordering London and Essex we often miss the snowfalls from NEly that the rest of Kent get and yet like late Jan 2020 we were then too far east for the snow that London Surrey Herts etc got we had rain mainly and some sleet that day! My road itself also has a microclimate im right by the Thames its often not even frosty here yet the top of my road and elsewhere has frost. Only an ENEly Thames streamer style setup gives us a decent amount of the white stuff which is rare as. Oh and December 2017 wrong side of the Thames for snow when most of Essex was covered
  22. Or how about GEM? Snow for most of the country lying from Monday until Saturday if this is anywhere near close!
  23. And now for the latest UKMO has a mainly south of the Thames/M4 affair, which is about bloody time! Jokes aside its looking promising for some usually snow starved locations in our region
  24. Lovely run by Harmonie 0z this for the SE my area seems close to the bullseye with snow from 5pm to 1am as far as it goes when the snow looks to spread further NW through London etc
