  1. Really decent event for here. This last batch has put down a cm or two.
  2. Road covered here. Just seen a car pull out of a junction and skid across to the other side of the main road.
  3. Yeah a nice coating here now. Snow at this time of year tends to stick well…it’s what I always bang on about. It’s why I prefer snow a few weeks either side of the solstice. Out of that period, the ground around here is just too warm and it melts readily.
  4. Haha it’s ok. Had long COVID that went on a few weeks but feeling better now mate
  5. Run the radar and the stuff out west is actually arcing round into the Midlands
  6. Very marginal here. Seems to be some melt of ice and the graupel. Need the heavier stuff.
  7. An early Jan SSW would be optimal. Effects would coincide with the coldest week of winter statistically.
  8. As long as that remains the case, we’re pretty much one bout of amplification away from something very wintry…given the CW you’d have to say the dice are loaded in our favour.
  9. I feel we’re on the cusp of something potentially extreme into December. That cold to the E has been building steadily for a while now.
  10. Not really concerned. I’ve seen the UKV miss features at less than 24 hrs lead time.
  11. Hard frost -5.5C UKV fairly spot on. Going for -7C over the next night or two.
  12. Definitely more cold ensemble members today rather than the unanimous mild we saw yesterday in them. This is what I was saying yesterday…watch out for the ensemble members falling a few at a time over successive runs. To me, at least, a proper easterly is a very real possibility within the next 3 weeks.
  13. EC going Scandi route at D10 too. Following Atlantic ridge would make sure of that…would have been nice to see past 240 hrs. That’s good enough for me this evening.
  14. Yeah if there’s one main strength of the GFS op, it’s picking up patterns against the grain in FI. It has always been the case. You’ll rarely see ensembles pick up an E’ly before the operational. What tends to happen is the ensembles fall a bit at a time (if it happens).
  15. I’ll tentatively put my money on the E’ly I think. Momentum will be working in favour of a slowing Atlantic, not the other way round.
