  1. well on the up side you at least have the opportunity to go and stay with your daughter with free board and lodging whenever you please, which is more than I can do and am stuck in this dire weather.
  2. This winter is really starting to annoy me now. the thought of yet another mild soggy winter fills me with despair. Yes I know there are those who keep saying it is only the beginning of winter but after 2 months of this dismal depressing atlantic weather and with no end in sight, it hardly fills you with hope. I am sure that true to UK weather form we shall have the 'winter' weather come the spring....when we don't want it and it is no good to anyone. Very fed up at the moment to say the least.
  3. yes and that cold will probably occur in June when its no good to anyone. this country's weather really does suck.
  4. I am hating this winter so far. why the hell didn't we get these high temperatures when it was summer. The land of perpetual Autumn for sure.
  5. another abysmal boring windy wet day here much the same as the past month or so. when will this pattern ever change. so depressing now.
  6. I do feel for those people who are suffering from the torrential rainfall and flooding in those areas, especially Cumbria, but at the same time they do live in these areas which are renowned for extremely high rainfall so it really shouldn't come as too much of a shock when these things happen...as terrible as they are.
  7. it really it nothing like I have experienced to be honest. a few nights ago I was outside with just a short sleeved shirt on at midnight and it felt as mild as a normal summer evening. very scary indeed.
  8. God I hope not. snow in April is not worth it as it only stays around for a few hours in the morning before the strong sun melts it. What's the point. The UK weather is so topsy turvy. Cool weather in summer and mild weather in winter. Unless we have the occasional 'freak' spells.
  9. in the East Midlands the last 2 years have been mild winters more or less completely so if this winter is mild too then that's 3 on the trot. I don't think I can take anymore.
  10. Really starting to hate this winter now. just a constant rinse and repeat scenario reminiscent of the winter of 2013. To anyone who says our weather is fascinating because its so unpredictable is wrong, its not unpredictable, I can guarantee that any year we will have heavy rains and winds and mild temperatures. that is not unpredicatability in my book.
  11. how are some people saying the current very mild temperatures we are experiencing are 'classic El Nino, when the following is said on wikipedia:- El Niño's effects on Europe appear to be strongest in winter. Recent evidence indicates that El Niño causes a colder, drier winter in Northern Europe and a milder, wetter winter in Southern Europe.[29] The El Niño winter of 2009/10 was extremely cold in Northern Europe
  12. I agree. the usual amount of lying snow in somewhere, say the Midlands, should be between 10-20 days per year, so those who say its to be expected in the mild UK not to get 'any' snow is talking rubbish. Yes, of course we have occasional winters that produce little if any snow, but they should not be considered the norm by any means.
  13. well kind of, yes. A few days of lying snow would be nice and should be typical...even in the 'mild' UK. That is normal. Winters with no snow whatsoever is abnormal.
  14. I doubt it. If Jerusalem can get snow, then I'm sure lowland Britain will continue to get it too, albeit more sporadically, in the coming years if global warming continues.
  15. I feel this winter is going to be yet another dismal mess of mild and wet weather with very little cold. So depressing.
  16. yes I too think that were it not for the snowfall of a few inches on 20th Dec 2010 then this particular year that everyone keeps going on about was not particularly amazing for us in the east midlands either. I suppose it was more noticeable for the cold rather than the amount of snow. I have seen far better snowfalls in 2009 and early 2010.
  17. last winter was dire for us in the east midlands. one evening of temporary snowfall and a few frosty morning does not, in my books, make a proper winter. I pray there isn't a repeat this winter...or worse.
  18. dismal and tedious...that's all I have to say on the current weather.
  19. i agree, a mild Halloween is not something I get excited about. why the hell does this island do everything topsy turvy? cool in summer and mild come the winter. yes I know we're an island in the atlantic, gulf stream, etc. Still frustrates me though.
  20. I am only hoping the current Autumn mild spell is not an indication of what is to come this winter and it will ultimately be replaced by cold and snow by December. The thought of another snowless mild winter fills me with dread.
  21. well after my initial optimistic outlook for summer 2015 it really has turned into one of the most depressing summers I can remember. No real extended hot spells, no regular sunshine just the odd very warm sunny day and then days of cool and cloud. Rinse and repeat. I for one will be glad to see the end of this summer now although I am not holding my breath for an interesting winter either. But who knows, I could be pleasantly surprised.
  22. pathetic british weather as usual. we go through winter with no significant cold weather and then when Spring arrives and we want some warmth suddenly the weather turns chilly. Maybe we should think about changing the seasons around in Britain as it really doesn't seem to want to play the game when it comes to the type of weather we should be getting in the different seasons. We can't win.
  23. personally I think the eastern seaboard of the US has been particularly selfish again this year although I'm sure they are as sick with having too much snow as we are having so little or non.
