    Give me last winter any day over this dire winter (so far) what with all its OPI etc promises of a winter nirvana. Monitoring and experiencing that conveyor belt of low pressure systems will live long in the memory

    Well the OPI forecast is due tomorrow so that no doubt will need a thread of its own given the interest its generated this year !

    Does anyone know when they last forecast a below avg temp winter ? They could just issue that forecast every year and get it right 80% of the time

    Not sure this event was a humdinger as carol k called it more than once. Cant comment on other areas but Thursday' nights storm was so much more impressive and that wasn't even forecasted for here !

    Quite a fresh feel in Southampton this morning - cloud cover quite extensive as well so have a feeling the unexpected storms last night may cause a knock on effect for later. If the humidity and sun don't appear by lunchtime then my guess is that all we'll have to look forward to later is a load of rain

    er thought my neck of the woods fun was Saturday - kept awake all night and would appear to be in storm alley looking at the radar !

    The fireworks have started in Southampton - some lovely forked lightning just outside the port

    Beautiful sunny morning here- heavy rain/ thunderstorms- I don't think so. Maybe a couple of heavy downpours this afternoon

    Nothing of much interet in the foreseeable tor south central and south eastern areas - just ain't going to be our week unfortunately

    You have to laugh though when there is a warning and this is the text (metoffice) "Rain will turn to snow for a time, mainly over the high ground during Friday morning. Over low ground it is unlikely that any snow will accumulate but some areas may see falling snow and slushy deposits for a time " Batten down the hatches, warn your neighbours - it's coming !!

    Only a rare poster on here but reading through the last few pages, I think I stumbled upon a St Tamara Love in campaign. Looking at the offending post, yes I can see that it could be viewed as a personal attack but (and this is where I get shot down) 1) I think someone who complains about the MOD thread (ts a moan anyway) and threathening to withdraw from it shouldnt complain if someone in effect agrees ! 2) The rutting references have been done before - tbh i've no idea where that comes from Nothing personal but its been pages of all this just because a member says they are not going to post in a certain thread - the world goes on and so should others

    Yes back to dullsville weather now till spring zzzObviously needed for the flooded areas but personally speaking I've enjoyed these winter storms. This thread will go very quiet soon !

    Anyone can have a stab at a winter or any other seasonal forecast. All you have to do is select for each month for the categories of rain /temp whether it will A - below average B - average C - above average Get those right and your a genius according to some !

    Main rain band will leave Southampton soon, so onto part 2 of wind and squally showers !
