  1. I just checked my local met office sites and they have been consistent with temps for last 3 hours, so nothing out of the ordinary going on up here yet. Maybe it's to do with cloud breaks lol.
  2. I made a comment in the Central Southern thread that i am very convinced I won't see any snow from this It's probably a case though of if i think negative the outcome will be positive lol.
  3. Some would say your in the best place to get confused with so many varying opinions
  4. I really am convinced that the snow prospects are being over hyped, i can't see anything other than sleet, maybe some wet snow on high ground in the Chilterns, there has been too many occasions in the past where this same sort of set up has dissapointed. Some might be happy with a bit of sleet or wet snow but it doesn't wash with me. I hop I am made to eat my words come this time tomorrow
  5. I don't get why that is interesting, we will be in the warm sector of the low later tonight so temps will rise anyway. have I missed something.
  6. it's really hard to tell what is going to happen over xmas, the 06z wants to through up a Azores Ridge North again after a few days of mild next week bringing us cold conditions for late xmas day / boxing day, I didn't see the 00z but I believe the 06z is totally different to what the 00Z was showing for the same period. I note that the 00Z ensembles were taking a slight dip below average again around this time (for London).
  7. It's quite marked the difference in temp within relatively short distances, i am only 16 miles East of Oxford and it's 3.2c here and has been maybe 1.5c/2c warmer than you all day. It seems that the further East and North you are the colder the air is.
  8. on the 12z the mild temps never really get going, at the end of weds there is still quite cold surface temps in the east of the UK and even after that they climb to around average before tumbling gain towards xmas.
  9. from wikipedia LOL The Midlands does not correspond to any current administrative area, and there is therefore no strict definition. However, it is generally considered to include the counties of Derbyshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire.
  10. North England definately I would say. I class the midlands as Brum etc.
  11. Only 1 cm of snow is needed across Southern Britian to make the headlines.
  12. No snow overnight, not even at 250 meters on the Chilterns, was surprised that temp actually rose in the night to 3.7c and was down to 2.5c upon waking this morning.
  13. Things will turn milder next week i am 99% sure of that, but for how long and how mild is far from agreed upon I think. It could quite easily last right into xmas or it might just be a 3-4 day warm up before turning cooler again in time for xmas. The mean 850's have stayed around average over the xmas period for more than a few runs so at this minute you would have to say temps will be average over the xmas period rather than very mild. As for the snow potential on Friday, I fear a lot of people who are expecting snow will be dissapointed i have seen this dozens of time before that it turns out to be sleet / wet snow instead of the proper stuff that sticks, NAE forecasts snow for my area but really I do not believe I will see any snow my way.
  14. heavy wet snow shower near Stokenchurch on the drive home from work, first snow of the season.
  15. But has it really gone wrong. All the meto have done is put out a yellow warning meaning "be aware", I don't recall anything released by the met saying wooooooooaaaaa we are all gonna get severe winds on Friday FACT!!, all i have heard is words like potential, uncertain etc.
  16. That's what I hate about working at heathrow during the day in the fact i miss all the excitement back home lol.
  17. Latest radar showing another shower for Oxford area coming down from the Costwolds, should hit within the hour. The one you had earlier Mark fizzled out before it got to London.
  18. You might get some snow tonight in any precip as I would have thought Wycombe is definately of high enough elevation.
  19. I live in Thame not far from the Chilterns, In fact I can see the tops from the rear bedroom window lol. Might get some snow this evening on the Chilterns if the BBC weather forecast this morning is to be believed. Fingers crossed.
  20. LOL it's been doing that for quite a few runs now, but the op has been one of the mildest members on all these runs too, so it cannot be taken seriously yet. I have just added something else to the list that I cannot take seriously, I wonder what that maybe!!
  21. I love the cold and snow, but I do see that more than likely we will be entering a period of milder SW/W winds from early next week. Wouldn't like to guess how long it would last, hopefully only a couple of days from a personal point of view. I am afarid I do not see any continuation of cold zonality in any of the models from next week onwards :-(
