  1. Posters congratulating the GFS on getting the Christmas forecast correct when the big day is still 6 days away and writing the whole of December off for cold! This forum is bonkers!
  2. You know the forum rules! I think of the ICON et al as the warm up acts. They have been dreadful. Will the headliners follow suit?
  3. The longer range forecast is not too shabby though The 12z ICON is not what we want but unless the rest of the 'big guns' follow suit I'm not too concerned. Fingers crossed for further improvements on the GFS and UKMO from this morning's runs for us coldies!
  4. My interest was peaked when I viewed the SEM (Sheiky Exclamation Mark) model earlier! Let's hope the ECM comes back into line this evening and we get a snowy non-breakdown followed by a further Easterly by next weekend! ❄
  5. I am actually a few miles South of Barnsley and that last band skirted just to my South and left an icing sugar coating here so I am still hoping against hope I get something here!
  6. You might be right. Unlike last night though the North Sea is looking very lively tonight and showers appear to be intensifying in some inland areas as well so I am more confident of a bit of snowy action tonight than last night!
  7. Just typed out my post and then saw yours. That is good news if thunder is being reported. Convection is on the increase!
  8. Is it me or is that shower over Hull intensifying and gaining a bit more girth?! Looks like it might hit areas slightly North of the current streamer? Barnsley for example?! Its the hope that kills ya!
  9. Winds seem to be switching more straight Easterly now and showers seem to be popping up inland as well as in the North Sea. Would it be too much to ask for a Humber streamer to develop this evening? These look like the heftiest showers I have seen all day incoming?
  10. The radar looks to be getting quite busy around the Humber! Should be good for Eastern areas. Will we get some decent activity inland? Stay tuned folks!
  11. Just a slight hint of some larger showers breaking out on the latest radar off the Humber? The darker areas are starting to develop more like the heavier stuff piling into the Edinburgh area? If you squint anyway?! Might be talking rubbish but that's all I got optimism wise!
  12. I have to say I'm losing a little faith in this Easterly at the moment. Hoping for a surprise between now and Wednesday but not expecting it at the moment. Still I have a dusting and it is bitter outside! Looking forward to seeing whether we can achieve some really low minima when the wind does eventually drop out
  13. Not looking good at the moment is it? The weird thing for me (aside from the fact my dusting from earlier has melted in the sunshine!) is that the Amber warning is to my South yet the heaviest of the showers look to my North based on the current radar! Looks a bust (so far)......
  14. Just either side of the warning zone! Radar starting to look better for our area now fingers crossed! Choo choo!
  15. A dusting here this morning. Light snow falling and the radar looks a bit meh but the automated forecast for here shows heavy snow all day! I am just inside the amber warning area here so we will see. Hope things pick up later as Scott and others have said
  16. Just noticed that mate. Looks like those brighter echoes are about to hit Donny and then Barnsley next. Looks like they will be hitting West Yorkshire not long after that too?
  17. Much better North Sea convection kicking off now. Should be good for some heavier showers through the early hours South Yorkshire especially Looks like the wind is changing direction to an ever so slightly more Easterly to my untrained eye?
