Windy and ColdHeavy Snow in EastIssued: 0530hrs Thursday 5 December 2013 Duty forecaster: John Ejdowski Dry across the Mediterranean Today Very windy across northern Europe today with gale to severe gales across Britain moving in through Scandinavia. Outbreaks of heavy snow are expected across Norway with rain across Britain stretching in across the Low Countries through Sweden. For much of France and Germany it should generally be dry. Dry across western parts of Poland with some snow in the east. An area of heavy snow will stretch across Russia, down towards the Baltic States, Finland, into Belarus and Ukraine. Lots of dry weather to come across Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, the Adriatic Region, Greece and Turkey. Fine as well across much of the Mediterranean with sunny spells across Italy, into Sardinia and to the west through the Balearics across all of Portugal and Spain. For much of mainland Europe it will be quite a cold day with some zero temperatures in the far east and across much of Scandinavia. Friday A cold today come across central and eastern parts of Europe is some zero temperatures spread west into Poland and all of Scandinavia. It will feel even colder with gale force northwest winds expected from Germany eastward to Russia which will be producing outbreaks of snow and heavy snow showers across Germany, Denmark, much of Scandinavia, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Baltic States and across Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. For Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, most of Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey it will remain dry with sunny spells. Continued dry as well across Italy through Sardinia into Spain and Portugal with sunny spells.
