Where abouts are you in West Wales Karlos? I know Pembrokeshire county council are quite worried, almost every school in Pembrokeshire is closing or has closed at 12.30 as precaution

Looks like we might just have had a 118mph gust off SW Ireland.

ECM Ensemble gusts for Pembrokeshire tomorrow. A mean of 78mph in afternoon but still some members much higher than this. 60mph-65mph gusts common in the winter here but 80mph is rare away from coast, particularly with some foliage on trees.

I’d recommend Newgale too, can park on hill high up. Always great for a storm! Mind you probably wouldn’t recommend anywhere tomorrow looking at latest forecast!

Another Chris Fawkes tweet, needs watching in regard to sting jet formation. I believe it was the sting jet that formed in February 2014 that triggered the Red warning of wind for Pembrokeshire that day.

Even at +96 we have so much disagreement and the 120 ecm and GFS chart is miles apart in terms of surface conditions for the UK and going forward as nick says above, ECM certainly the best at 120

When comparing today's 12z chart for Saturday versus the 12z run 2 days ago, you can see the big difference. If these changes keep occurring, something of interest may certainly pop up sooner than we might have expected. Massive difference in the western Mediterranean for just two days.

I feel like something is starting to brew in the models. Some pretty big changes occurring in the mid range looking at 12z GFS.

Funnily, cardiff's best chance of seeing snowfall in some shape of form may actually come this weekend. Looks like some snow grain/v light snow may develop on Saturday around South Wales. Basically drizzle but the air will be cold enough then for this to fall as snizzle (snow). Nothing exciting but better than rain

Much better from the 18z so far. Cold end of next week In the south for sure going to mainly just look until then (Day 7) on the models from now because we've just been let down way too much from longer term forecasts this year....both from the ops and the longer range models one of the reasons why everyone thinks the UKMO-GM has been the best performer so far this winter is because it has been. But secondly it only goes out to +144 (for what we see) so it's prone to less fluctuation and we don't see wildly changing day 10 charts like we do from ecm and GFS.

This heavy intense band 20 minutes ago has miraculously almost faded that much just north of Cardiff due to the hills that it's almost drizzle now. Night

The hills around Cardiff etc don't half sap most the energy out of these showers. Should be any minute now, if it hasn't dissapeared into dust over Pontypridd that's is...

Same here in Cardiff. Not cold enough, then cold enough but no precip, now slightly milder and a massive shower of rain/sleet. Uch.

Looks like slighter milder air creeping in out west, showers now sleet all of a sudden. Still clear skies here, looks like that shower lost too much of its intensity.
