  1. Probably the best idea, I do see both sides of the coin, being from the south east which generally holds the most active region on here, it would be a shame to lose that thread for several months as there is definitely a community spirit which I for one like. I think the compromise will keep most happy and give people from nearby regions the chance to interact with other people who were previously in other regional threads.
  2. Evening, been away all weekend but it appears there was some commotion about the regionals. Glad to see they are still here (for the time being at least) Fantastic weekend and spent a lot of it outside with my girlfriend and her family. Couldn't ask for better weather really. Today and yesterday were especially nice with the pleasant late Spring warmth. Back to work tomorrow and it is supposed to rain. Nice to see the weather playing ball
  3. Evening, lovely weekend I must say. This coming week looks mixed or even unsettled in northern areas, though temperatures look reasonable for the time of year and even 20C could be reached on one or two days. Looks like most of the daytime precipitation looks to be in shower form so it shouldn't be too bad. Unfortunately next weekend looks pretty rubbish at the moment with low pressure crossing the UK bring heavier rain and cooler conditions. Beyond that, still signs of pressure rising over the continent mid-month and perhaps further north and affecting the UK later on, ECM coming out now and suggesting pressure will rise from the 13th Surprisingly deep low in the Atlantic, would not be too surprised at a shallower feature and a more amplified pattern to be the reality.
  4. Morning all. Well yesterday was just cloudy and damp in the end, no thunder to speak of here. Somehow areas north and south of here got hit. Must have secret teleporting abilities to miss here This morning we have a thick layer of stratus (standard for north easterlies) so I'm expecting a pretty dull day to day with limited brightness. But it's Friday and almost another 3 day weekend. So have a great day
  5. Morning, some rain around here, but the cloud is high and quite broken so it is allowing the sun through from time to time. Hoping for some storms today. Though like so many days, the cape seems to downgrade as the day approaches Looked so much more promising yesterday.
  6. Words to sum up the GEM. Dreadful 2012 Please don't verify UKMO showing a slower breakdown the the GFS No other model has suggested the retrogression of heights from Scandinavia over to Greenland so hopefully it's just a rogue run.
  7. Afternoon, best day of the week with the fog/cloud clearing to leave nice warm sunny spells. Just fair weather cloud this afternoon and no sign of any showers which is a shame. Hopefully tomorrow will deliver.
  8. Morning all, foggy start here. That is quite a story Kerry, definitely one to warm the hearts and give some faith in man kind
  9. Whilst the UKMO/GEM/GFS agree on a breakdown on Tuesday, the ECM decides to flip again Interesting development, and allows the UK to continue to hold onto dry and fine weather.
  10. Evening, well the weather did improve here slowly, got some sun during the afternoon but always a lot of mid level cloud cover. The winds look more southerly tomorrow so hopefully it will be brighter and warmer.
  11. Indeed we can be thankful for that. Looks like very average weather ahead once you balance the couple of cold and warm days over the weekend. No washout for sure, well except maybe today Have a good day everyone
  12. Yeah does look different to the forecast. A lot of rain moving out of Belgium at the moment to affect the south east.
  13. Morning all, heavy rain at the moment here so a horrible drive to work today. A lot of rain piling in from Belgium so it could be a washout for some. Well bye bye warm spell next week. Typically the GFS is right when you don't want it to be. Bank holiday still looks good.
  14. Disappointing runs this morning. Trust the GFS to trump every other model including its own ensembles at the worse possible moment where 25C probably could have been reachable next week given some of the runs we saw. The whole bank holiday weekend still looks decent though.
  15. Whoops missed this earlier. Saturday looks quite chilly with temperatures probably 9-13C, watch out for frost Friday and Saturday night. By Sunday temperatures should be back to the seasonal average and by Monday we will be beginning to pick up a southerly flow of sorts which should help temperatures rise towards 20C. GFS temperatures charts from the 12z run but the basic gist is there Beyond that the ECM and GEM really crank the high pressure through the gears and place it east of the UK. GFS wants to bring the Atlantic in and return us to a westerly pattern if still rather warm for the time of year. Given the GFS op seems out of kilter with its ensembles longer term, I might perhaps back a near nationwide anticyclonic and possibly very warm spell for some next week.
  16. Of course after saying this the ECM predicts a spell of 20C+ days next week. Better ramp every cold snap going then
  17. Stunning ECM ensembles, showing heights parked over the UK for the bank holiday before slowly drifting to sit over Central/Northern Europe. Could we see our first proper "Summerlike" spell next week? ECM says yes.
  18. Feeling quietly confident on a fine and sunny weekend, all models have high pressure over the UK throughout, ECM hinting at something more significant next week with pressure building strongly over or just east of the UK with temperatures into the 20s. Ensemble mean for next Tuesday Starting to feel positive about potentially our first warm/very warm spell of the year. No further new on the job front, will just continue to wait and of course plan a summer holiday (my first for many years)
  19. Evening, decent end to the day here with lots of sunshine. Took until lunchtime to see the sun and had a few mid afternoon light showers. The bank holiday weekend still looks great weatherwise
  20. No real change from the models this morning, the GEM looks a little more settled than its previous run but still manages to push some weak fronts through next week. ECM looks an absolute corker for the bank holiday weekend with high pressure slap bang over the UK By Monday we have +4-6 850s countrywide so temperatures should be back to high teens or even pushing 20C in places. Could be a fantastic weekend to get out Beyond that, ECM is really pushing this mid-latitude block near the UK, light a variable winds, lots of sunshine and very warm temperatures for the time of year.
  21. In more important business the Mayday bank holiday looks pretty good weather-wise I would say it is likely to dry all weekend, maybe a shower on Saturday perhaps which will also be the chilliest day. Sunday and Monday both look sunny and rather pleasant.
  22. Slightly surprised by the ECM ens, very much backs the op in extending the dry settled weather into the following week. Odds starting to favour a return to the conditions that have most commonly effected the UK this Spring so far after a brief cold plunge at the end of the week. Though a long way to go of course.
