  1. Beautiful cloudless and windless morning here, already 23C at 7am. Looks like a stinking hot day ahead. Last of my days off work so will work on my tan!
  2. No one I know is sick of this weather, on the contrary, everyone seems to be loving it. We get enough cool crap in this country, a few days of heat and it's Armageddon. Otherwise known as summer. It'll cool down soon enough.
  3. That patch of cloud is a bit odd?! Seems to be moving away to the W though. Otherwise, a very warm start here, 24C currently, with hardly any wind. Lovely
  4. I can sympathise with the wildly varying temperature forecasts for a particular location, must be very annoying. I lived with a mate in the baking summer of 2006, he bought a mobile aircon unit for about £120. He kept it in his large bedroom, kept the window and curtains closed and his room was freezing! Worked a treat, though obviously the rest of the house was roasting (my attic bedroom was 35C at 11pm many times).
  5. Still 26C here at 21:47, will need the fan on tonight, methinks!
  6. It is, true. Not sure you'd cope living here then! Do you have air conditioning? A mobile unit is very effective in a closed room and not overly expensive to run.
  7. I disagree, in many heatwaves SE temperatures are usually higher, often significantly so. What isn't 'normal' though is the actual heatwave itself! I never said 'get over it'. But it's a bit like someone in Brest or Paris complaining that Toulouse or Marseille is sometimes much hotter and sunnier. Illogical when they are hundreds of miles apart.
  8. Oh Lord, were you in Dynasty or Dallas? Melodrama award goes to...! Many of us love this weather. And you live in west Lancashire?! Hardly heatwave central, is it?
  9. Nothing to say it won't happen like those years, we are due a properly hot summer. There'll always be a front or two passing by from time to time though, and generally areas N and W will suffer the effects first.
  10. My brother lived in Paris for 20 years. Like the difference between Leeds and London, the general temperatures in London and Paris are very similar, but Paris normally gets hotter in heatwaves than London and it lasts a day or two longer there, too. Used to annoy me at first but that's just how it is, no point getting upset about something normal. And 22C in strong June sun won't feel too shabby.
  11. I work (in a uniform) and it's not pleasant in this weather. But I'd happily have 3 months of this every year in summer, it's not 'selfish'. Nearly everyone is happier in this weather, especially when it occurs on a weekend, as they can enjoy the outdoors/their garden/the beach etc without wearing 20 layers and freezing or getting blasted by winds or soaked, like the other 9 months of the year.
  12. Why is it 'blood boiling'? Yes, in general terms, London temperatures are only a few degrees higher than Leeds. But in heatwaves and hot spells, London and the SE can quite often be considerably hotter than the rest of the UK. Just how it is! Plus on Tue, a cold front has affected Leeds introducing much cooler air, but further south is still in the warm air.
  13. Still 29C here at nearly 8pm. Lovely day. Tomorrow and Monday hot, hopefully that cold front won't get near here next week and keep it hot all week.
  14. 29C here with 46% humidity. Feels hot for sure but not humid or clammy.
  15. A very light westerly breeze here so you'll probably be rather warm tonight.
  16. Sounds it. Will the breeze die down tonight? Here, it didn't drop below 17C last night and the next few nights will be warmer. Fan will be going on.
