  1. SunSean Yes, charts for the next 7 days or so look very dreary, unless you like grey skies and wind
  2. raz.org.rain January is usually by far the longest month of the year for me.. So the fact that it’s already over is quite a surprise. There was a bit of wintry weather earlier in the month and some very pleasant sunshine and frosts. Interested to see what February holds
  3. CryoraptorA303 January has been much sunnier than woeful December, thankfully. Looks like it might have been sunnier than average, too, with a whopping 27% of total available daylight actually sunny. How spoilt are we
  4. In Absence of True Seasons Sounds nice. Here in Czechia it’s vile this morning, overcast and chucking it down, feeling chilly at 4°C
  5. I like seeing warmer temperatures begin to show in April. I also like traditional April showers which seem quite rare, these days. As for things cooling off, the end of October feels about right for that
  6. January has flown by for me. Normally it’s such a slog to get through but not this year, no idea why Have had plenty of chilly but sunny weather. Unfortunately, the dreary damp gloom is back. Hopefully not for too long
  7. A beautiful few days here with lots of crisp winter sunshine and sharp frosts at night. A very acceptable spell of weather and thankfully a break from the rain. Though as often happens by the end of January, some of my joints are very sore and I’m beginning to crave warmer weather
  8. True, I personally enjoy seasonal weather at the right time of the year. Sadly, the UK doesn’t climate is often the other way round
  9. Disappointing for those of us that enjoy seasonal weather during the whole year. Still time for a decent cold/snowy spell, of course. A month is a long time in meteorology
  10. There was plenty of that last summer! Some people
  11. Snow thawing here in Czechia quite quickly now, as the milder Atlantic air moves in. Not looking particularly wintry for the foreseeable, just like the UK. If it’s going to be mild, please let there be some decent sunny spells, at least
  12. Winter 2013-14, vile and my hometown suffered major flooding. Summer 2007 and 2012 were also mostly hideous. Never want a repeat of any of them
  13. Beautiful and sunny but bitterly cold morning here in Czechia, down to -8°C overnight, currently -4°C with some laying snow. Looks like the Atlantic crap will push in this week here too, with mild temperatures, wind and rain
  14. -5°C in London this morning, doesn’t happen very often
  15. It’s a very thin wall of snow, in fact in northern France it’s been mainly rain with any snow further east over Benelux. Interesting sharp temperature gradients though
  16. Beauty of a day in London, clear blue skies, sunny and just 3°C.
  17. Arrived in London for work and it’s a beauty of a winter’s day, blue skies, sunshine and cold at 3°C. No complaints
  18. Nice dusting of snow here this morning, and the sun is making an appearance -1°C. Have noticed the ducks pairing off for several weeks now, signs of an early spring?
  19. It’s not the most pleasant weather type, bad enough in winter, foul in summer. ‘Usable’ though, compared to the usual wind and lashing rain. Gloomy here in Czechia too, we’ve lost the lovely sunshine, unfortunately and air quality has deteriorated. At least the wind has calmed but everything is still frozen so I can’t do any work in the garden.
  20. Another beauty of a day here in Czechia, reached the dizzy heights of 0°C with lovely sunny skies. The sodden ground is starting to dry up a bit at last and river levels are going down after the flooding
  21. Yes. The Thames and many other rivers have burst their banks in a number of places, threatening homes and businesses with flooding and the soil is saturated in much of Britain. No more wind and rain for a while, please
  22. Sunny but freezing here in Czechia, currently -4°C. Much preferable to the near constant wind and rain of the last few months, good excuse to get the log burner going
  23. Shows how wet 2023 was, and early 2024 keeping that going. Average annual sunshine isn’t anything great in the UK, when as a country average, 65% of available daylight is cloudy. It’s why I’ll always hope for above average sunshine here. Meanwhile, a Baltic -7°C here in Czechia at the moment
  24. Another grim day here with rain this morning. It did ease off but remained gloomy and damp, with a chill in the air. Could really do with some drier and clearer air now, the SAD is really kicking in
  25. Actually sunny here today! Did some gardening yesterday while the weather is mild but of course, as soon as I got stuck in, the heavens opened. So bored of rain. Looks like a significant change to much colder weather from Sunday, but only limited potential for snow. -4°C maximum on Monday, will certainly feel like winter
