    Are you looking at the right charts? There’s no precip anywhere near the midlands at 114?

    Hopefully this confirms once and for all that in a cold spell, a seemingly dry outlook can change at short notice as features pop up. Shame I’m about 3 miles west of the warning area! Hopefully it moves west.

    Interesting that even when GFS tries to break the pattern down, not a single front can make it past the meridian.

    Maybe they’ve coloured it in wrong In all seriousness, it would make more sense for that to be lower pressure to the south. Yes, I’ve seen this happen before. In the end you reach a tipping point and end up with a completely different way forward than what was modelled previously.

    I think the key is to make sure it doesn’t link up with the lower pressure out west in the Atlantic. We need some kind of mid Atlantic ridge to Greenland.

    Seems to be plenty of snowfall involved there. Hope the jigsaw pieces can align themselves to keep us in the cold.

    Utter chaos in the models post 7 days! I think FI is very early on at the moment.

    Although a cold run, GFS is synoptic garbage in my opinion. It’s just so messy. ECM next please!

    Awful GFS 6z in deep FI. Wasn’t expecting BBQ weather in the week before Xmas* *yes I know it will all change!
