  1. Well P12 would cheer up the troops! There are some cold run clustering in the ENS even if not quite so sexy as the above.
  2. Increasing signs for a cyclonic / milder start to next month as we now see in the NWP and then a colder blocked scenario with rising heights towards Greenland as December progresses. And ECM 240hrs
  3. Not for this thread I know, but worth mentioning that Exeter / MOGREPS are sticking to their guns re: a temporary mobile milder spell up to about mid December. Cold settled (i.e. blocked) conditions resuming thereafter. The ENS still show the uncertainty. Even at the end of the GFS 06z run the NH profile shows a disorganised vortex profile which is far away from the standard 'zonal'.
  4. Uncertainty rules is my feeling, despite some rather downbeat Op runs this morning. Precipitation levels do look to be on the increase for sure.
  5. What better potential, as shown, could one wish for at the start of the meteorological winter?
  6. Yes please Matron! Seriously though, there are a good few cold options to play for - as well as mild of course. An interesting evolution to say the least and a welcome change from the usual zonal grundge.
  7. The 06z GFS Op run was the coldest of the bunch towards the end compared to 00z where it was a warm outlier! Subtle shifts in the blocking High can make all the difference to us on the ground in our tiny Island Anyway, the general theme of a move to cold blocked is there and great fun to watch at this early stage of the season. Let's hope this 'pre-disposition' of the atmosphere around our shores continues to develop.
  8. GLOSEA seasonal update now favouring a cold 850 anomaly (south) and N blocking.
  9. "There are some signs that high pressure may develop across the north and east towards mid November" "Temperatures generally below normal, with a greater likelihood of frost as well as some snow" Important bits cherry picked,,,,
  10. "ANY MILDER INTERLUDES ARE LIKELY TO BE SHORT LIVED."
  11. isn't that just reflective of the current very warm spell? A couple of frosts and cold days would soon cool the ground temps down.
  12. Well time to come out of summer hibernation maybe? Whatever happens in FI it's looking cool / cold for the foreseeable.
  13. And pack them away shortly thereafter... Oh the grand old duke of York.......
  14. Very cool for Sun / Mon with huge precipitation potl rain / sleet /snow & the GFS Op run not well supported for any warm up. Decidedly chilly outlook for Blighty here Could we squeeze one more snow event in the south?
  15. Enough to make you weep into your Tetley's cask ale John
