  1. Yes, a nice cold surprise could be on the cards! with this temperature gradient somewhere could get a nice dumping..
  2. More extensive frost for Easter Morning on the latest GFS run Low Dew Points and theta-e values UKMO looking good as well Snow showers clipping the E / EA and probably Kent. No mildfest quite yet.
  3. Not to mention a widespread frost on Easter Sunday Followed by soaring temperatures of up to 5-6 C
  4. Potential for a good dump of snow over the south on Good Friday (ICON 0z) We need a correction S/SE from the other models and some more trough disruption to bring everybody into the game. Not an unexpected scenario in the current regime !
  5. Temps solidly below normal for all of Europe to the end of the month.
  6. So GFS 06z says "I guess some of you must be fed up getting frozen by a bitter easterly it is April after all - OK change of scene, let's build a solid Greenland High and blast you all with a frigid northerly instead" LOL - FI extreme but based on recent form I wouldn't bet against it!
  7. The Beast is on the way, already into Scotland and the North and sinking South... Just take a butchers at the NH profile Lots of very cold air with the GB sticker on its back.
  8. If you look at the comparison between the 06z and the 12z ENS on the face of it there is a shift with the mean to closer to average. However, there is considerable uncertainty and moreover there is a tighter cold cluster grouping with the 12z than with the 06z where the clustering was more around the mean. A shift then evident of runs going cold and the Op run has gained more support- the mean alone doesn't tell the whole story. 06z 12z
  9. Excellent - snow showers across the bulk of the UK! A very brief milder blip and then the April Beast strikes again
  10. Maybe but judging by the latest extended METO text forecast it looks like cold all the way until mid April at the very least & then only a slim chance of something slightly 'less cold'. It's interesting that earlier / middle part of the winter it seemed that there was a 'predisposition' to bring cold weather patterns from the NW and sliding LP systems across the UK for an extended period. Maybe we have entered a phase when there is a similar 'predisposition' to bring very cold shots to us from the N / NE / E Exactly what the drivers are and which ones predominate (SSW etc?) I'll leave to the experts in other threads. Suffice it to say, I'm enjoying this fascinating cold phase - just hope it re-emerges around about mid November for - say - 4/5 months.
  11. Yet another cracking run from GFS 06z Nothing 'marginal' there! Never mind Gavin (SS) summer will come eventually.....
  12. Amazing NH profile at the end of the 06z run ! What a cracker and the theme not wavering bar the odd minor details. ENS 06z awaited
  13. Solid set of ENS this morning flying the Easter cold flag Furthermore the GFS 06z run shows the milder push, courtesy of the Azores High ridge, struggling like hell against a developing cold block to the north by this time next week. Note the comparison with the 0z run. 0z 6z All to play for...
  14. Still looking good for Easter If nothing else GFS is consistent with this longer range signal & it has been with the recent cold spells. Don't put the sledges away yet...
  15. Yep - lining up nicely for the Easter freeze up There's good support from the 12z GEFS as well - a decent number of -10's in there.
  16. Agreed and ECM throws out a horror chart that we are all to familiar with from the past.
  17. Brilliant - direct hit from the north pole - a long fetch northerly Loadsa snow as well GFS like a dog with a bone with this set-up.
