Anyone with any measured and rational suggestions why Met Office havent issued amber for some areas appart from NI? Some charts showing 81mph here, although we get that a few times a year here they usually get an amber. I dont want to get into the whole South bias vs North debate but its getting hard to explain

If you live any higher up the UK than Birmingham say, then you were never going to get the exceptional stuff (perhaps only with a sting jet depending where you are). I live in north Wales and wasn’t expecting anything. But I fully realise that the south is getting it, just because you aren’t there doesn’t mean it’s not happening. It’s no one’s fault but your own if you read headlines and get worked up. -

Temp is dropping like a stone here, really noticeable. Wonder if I’m gonna be lucky with the white stuff. Usually do well in this spot in marginal rain/snow events. -

This is why I’m getting married in our favourite place next January, within the arctic circle in Lapland, Finland, guaranteed snow. But I bet you whilst we are there the uk will have the biggest snow event ever and I won’t be there -

Its great to see this at day 6 not day 10 BUT, we should wait for multi run, multi model, multi day consistency before walking through the gate of the garden path. I do hope its a genuine flip, the genuine flips do tend to happen at short notice. -

I for one strongly believe Solar activity influences the weather in a way where you don't have as much lag effect as say a SSW. Perhaps a solar activity thread?
