  1. Forecast rain from 11am as the mild air pushes in...currently snowing at sea level SW Wales... bodes well for the rest of the country!
  2. Ok but not wonderful, on paper it looks nice, but the flow doesnt hold for long enough for sufficient cold uppers to move south...wintry showers for northern hills my take, certainly no repeat of the last couple of days.
  3. Not sure of the accuracy of the radar in relation to pp type? Ive just driven inland a couple of miles, even though Im in then'pink zone' its 100% rain and 4.5 degrees.
  4. An Amber warning for Pennnines? Not sure your point? Look at the Met 10 day video....even they say this is nothing unusual for March?
  5. Main band of ppn today has already pushed north and the mild air has well and truly set in here. It wasnt due to arrive till 6am on last nights forecast ...no idea what this means elswhere but its all more progressive than anticipated.
  6. Looks like the March weather we used to have, wild swings in conditions from day to day, one day its springlike, the next were back into winter. Nice to see.
  7. One issue I noted last few years is the snow charts are extremely over egged. There are also too many to choose from, a poster picks the best even if its an outlier compared to the rest, post it, then others think its gospel and it spirals out of control from there. The safest option is, if the met arent interested its not happening.
  8. Just had a 15 minute blast of some of the biggest flakes ive ever seen, just started to settle then stopped. Nice to see tho.
  9. Its been 1c here today, snow on and off all day, some very heavy snow just moved through but barely settled. Im thinking a high ground event (settling snow) tomorrow for wales, midlands, south.
  10. Same here, heavy big flakes from the second band moving in but just not settling.
  11. The cold does dig in back south, but looking at the sweet spot, gfs op, no snow falling there away from Northern most parts of England southwards...
  12. Well, Shorts and T shirt would be a lie, however, no wind, clear blue skies, 4c but actually feels very plesent, you can really feel the sun. One day of 'miserable cold' for me tomorrow then back to double digits.
  13. Looking at the Fax chart you could argue the cold never gets to the south coast before the warm front starts on its return journey..by 144 the transition is complete going by ecm..
  14. Plus you cant really join the Model Highlights thread if your going to post a mild chart in the depths of winter
  15. Hopefully you will take some feedback from the posts above to your boss in readiness for next year We do need a thread where the cold enthusiasts can live in harmony (Chasing cold thread) and then another for general model discussion. Yea, typically the chance of some snow for southern areas is tonight.. but, its mostly in the early hours so most will miss it!
  16. It does make me laugh when I see the posts 'guys im sorry, due to xxxx im not going to be posting anymore' ... gets 100 likes and theyre back on the following day anyway, move on...message to oneself...shouldn't get wound up ...especially after a 7-0
  17. Good post, says what a good few are thinking. Even though I love a good blast of winter, i find myself posting milder charts than colder ones just to balance up the cold ramping. I see now its all going belly up from mid week FI is back to T96 BTW my 4cast temps for the week; 7,4,4,8,11,11,11 make your own mind up
  18. Be interesting to see what EC comes up with but UKMO comes up with a 'football' low which blows the cold away, even from the north temporarily, can it be wrong at just t96?. If nothing else at least the weather is livelying up a bit.
  19. I think only a lucky few will even see that! Just rain showers here today.
  20. Its almost sadistically amusing when you think of the weeks and weeks of posts, time and effort, ramping up, what is increasingly looking like 2 frosty days. Looking foreward, slight positives if you are one who thinks we need some persistant rain, likeise if you would like to give your central heating system a rest. Have the models done a terrible job, or have the 'pro's' just misinterpreted the information to hand?
  21. UKMO day 6...Remember that ecm chart we all laughed at the other day?
  22. And we constantly preach to one another, 'wait till its inside 144hrs'...what do we all do when we see somethig at 240 High vs Low resolution
  23. I think next Weds possible event will be it for the south..If it misses to the south that will be it, uppers far to warm by the time the next system arrives.
  24. Agree, as of my original post...it doesnt look now like anything abnormal for early March..may swing back tho, but the trend is in the opposite direction.
