    If that actually comes off, we may FINALLY see some lying snow here, in Northampton I'm crossing everything

    The Welsh mountains usually zap the life out of a band of rain/snow but, I think this time may be different. If we can at least get some moderate PPN to stall over the Midlands for a good 3-6 hours, we should see some decent accumulations in some parts.

    Well, according to the shift Northwards on the latest model runs, Northampton would be in a decent spot, as well! Not seen any proper snow so far his Winter though, so i'm not getting my hopes up a shower reached us today and it fell as rain and sleet. Tomorrow may be the same

    Aahahaha! I was following a heavy shower on the radar, when it reached here, I rushed to the window to see it falling, looked out, and it was rain with a bit of sleet thrown in I give up.

    Wait, you're about 20 miles away from me, and you managed a few cm's?! How in the hell did we not even get sleet here Northampton has its own climate, i'm not even joking at this point.

    So how did we do tonight? Here in Northampton, it was a case of 'same old story' I'm afraid. Moderate to heavy rain for 2 hours. Not even a hint of sleet, despite the temperature hovering around 1c. My Mum sent me a video of where she lives in Leicester, and it was chucking it down with snow, earlier. They're only 30 miles North, at the same elevation ? I'm not even confident about Sunday either. We'll miss out on it A dejected snow lover tonight, no question.

    Bit premature to be talking about Spring technically, we're only about a month into Winter! Still the rest of Jan and February left to see some decent snow. There is still all to play for.

    Well, much to my surprise, we have what can only be described as 'heavy sleet' here in Northampton shame it's not pure snow. The intensity is pretty heavy! Edit: Tell a lie! It looked like sleet from the window but i've just been outside and it feels like heavy ice pellets with some flurries thrown in! The shed roof is starting to turn white. I didn't expect anything wintry from this! I'm only at 70m ASL I suspect evaporative cooling is at play here.

    Absolutely nothing here in Northampton, again. I've just resigned myself to the fact we aren't going to see any snow for this current cold spell

    Those of you that have seen snow in the past week, think of us poor sods that haven't seen a flake! Still not seen snow here in Northampton Such a bad place for snow. Since I moved here a year ago, I've seen snow on one day. Sugar dusting that melted by lunchtime

    True. There is more PPN in that than I expected there would be. Just wish it was 50 miles further North, then we'd all be in the firing line The ARPEGE model has a streamer developing for the early hours but it's not the best! We MAY get a dusting in Northampton from it but i'm not holding my breath. Plus, i'll be in bed so i'll bloody miss it

    It is developing but it's moving South West as it does. Skirting the far South Midlands. Looks like we're even too far North here, in Northampton. It's missing us to the South by about 20 miles.

    Just posted this in the Central Southern England thread. I'll repost it here too No snow reports from the home counties? Looks like Luton and Bedfordshire are under that band. Should be cold enough there for wintryness in that

    Left work at 10pm, cycling home and we had a pretty brief but heavy shower. I'd say it was a 60/40 mix in favour of rain but there was some wintryness in there. Surprised it wasn't purely snow to be honest! The temp here is only 0.7c with a dew of 0.2. Maybe the dew needed to be half a degree lower. Fine margins

    Finally some PPN reaches us in Northampton, and... RAIN. Wow The weather gods have got it in for us here

    From experience, an Easterly almost always delivered for Leicester. Not sure how good it'll be for Northampton though. Would have to be more of a NE wind to bring snow showers here.

    Neither would I, if I passed through 'Inckleh! I jest. I'm a Leicester boy, born and bred. Just wish Northampton had gotten in on the bloody action tonight though!
