  1. Use to read a lot of sci fi books in the late 50’s and 60’s. Seemed to cover many possible world wide catastrophes. Many were about thermo nuclear war sign of the times then.
  2. Better news. Coronavirus quarantine patient David Abel dances to 'I've had the time of my life' | Daily Mail Online WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK David Abel has been filmed dancing to 'I've had the time of my life' following his release from the Diamond Princess. He tells viewers to 'bend those knees' as he squats and sashays back and forth.
  3. Anyone read this book? Did 1981 Dean Koontz thriller The Eyes Of Darkness predict the coronavirus outbreak? | Daily Mail Online WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK Koontz's thriller The Eyes Of Darkness describes a killer virus named 'Wuhan-400' after the Chinese city it originated in - the same city where COVID-19 was first reported.
  4. Some of us never lost them nor dumped their emergency equipment.
  5. Now here is a “surprise” Bots are waging a coronavirus disinformation campaign on social media APPLE.NEWS At a time when everyone is looking for answers, bots are spreading lies about the coronavirus. The latest figures show there are now 60 confirmed cases of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, in the...
  6. “Yet Another Storm” would be good to use every time. To be honest who cares what the thing is called? Information about what where, when and how severe is all most people want.
  7. Current exports from China are turning out to be a bit dodgy.
  8. Been just enough time for them to catch something so they can go and spread what they have elsewhere. Hopefully me being cynical does not turn out to be true.
  9. Also hind sight is very good after the event.
  10. Special offer from Wuhan market. Was going to add they were going cheap but it doesn’t work with ducks. China to send 'duck army' to help Pakistan fight locusts | Daily Mail Online WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK The legion of lotus-eating waterfowl will be sent from the eastern province of Zhejiang following the earlier dispatch of a team of Chinese experts to Pakistan to advise on the infestation.
  11. Yes. Too many experts who are not in the firing line.
  12. A hoped for chance that a vaccine could be made, manufactured and used if a delay in spread could occur?
  13. Which country is in any better position? Unless they are a dictatorship who are prepared to exercise draconian powers and spend money as if it is going out of fashion.
  14. PR exercise but might help to some degree. With migrants, in particular, prepared to flout any rules cannot see it being anything more than a sticking plaster.
  15. Probably only benefit it reminds you not to touch your face.
  16. Out of interest how would you enforce such control? Pie in the sky?
  17. Difficult balancing act for any supposed democratic country. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Possibly we should let China take control. Then there would be some moaning. Whatever happens the world wide economy will take a big hit
  18. As so much of our fruit and veg comes from abroad should we be eating it if it comes from an area where coronavirus is known to occur or be suspected because of a lack of upfront information? As time between picking and packing and potentially eating is only a few days in theory the virus could be live on fruit/veg and it’s container. Would just a good wash be enough? Just looked in the fridge. Grapes from South Africa, tomatoes from a Morocco and mushrooms from Norfolk.
  19. BBC is a prime example. This has been brewing for weeks (I started this thread on the 14th January) but their coverage has on the whole been pretty useless. Today however they have been giving it the whole works and I am sure scared an awful lot of people. Let’s hope a lot of people are now woke to the problem but with at least a little good information. Sure makes a change from the endless stories about which second rate personality has come out to further their career or whether Megan has emasculated Harry. Apart from looking at a local area web page on Facebook, where the main topic seems to be who has lost their dog or cat I don’t use it or Twitter. Too much misinformation and downright rudeness.
  20. Another big question is will your travel insurance pay up if you decide not go on a journey if there is no government announcement that you should not visit a country and or not travel?
