  1. The nokia was the 1st mobile i had..the blackberry bold is my current work phone (soon to be changed to the I phone 5) and the Sony is the last UK mobile i had
  2. yep same here..we tipped 21c yesterday afternoon..went to work this morning and it was snowing heavily
  3. the thing is people rattle of forgettable years but then they can be that forgettable as you easily remember them..i mean 2007 as come up a lot but its is well remembered for the terrible wet summer. i would suggest a forgettable year is one when nothing in particular happened and you struggle to even remember that year for weather...that's why 2002 is a great example.
  4. August 1997 was very memorable as my eldest son was born in August 1997..the run up to his birth was quite uncomfortable for my wife and the heat helped none
  5. Have to agree that 2002 was much of a muchness...dont remember 2008 being much different apart from a bit of snow at the end of October..anything remarkable happen in 1982?..1998?
  6. Here In Calgary the last time it rained was August 24th 2012 believe it or not and the reason i remember it because it was my sons birthday and it was only the 2nd rain day of August..since then the only precip has been snow.
  7. i must be a day behind weather wise..it is forecast to reach 18c today here in Calgary..and as you say cooling down with snow forecast for the weekend and temps back down to 0c
  8. Judging by those charts looks like July best chance of decent summer weather..June and August dont look great away from the south west.
  9. What is intersting here is that none of these warm months came during the summer season..the vast majority are spring and autumn months..therefore very often they are forgotten..people only remember cold (all year round) and warmth in the summer..had the majority have fallen during the summer months would anyone be even mentioning little ice ages?
  10. A very nice weekend just gone...wall to wall sunshine all be it pretty cold for the time of year...reached -8c on Sat and -1c yesterday..this week looks like spring finally arrives...sunny with a warming trend all week and could reach +15c by the Easter weekend.
  11. From a North American stand point the answer to the OP question would be no. 2012 was one of the warmest years on record with a very mild winter followed by a hot summer followed by another mild winter..very heavy drought in many parts of the mid west is still ongoing and is the worst for 60 years.
  12. What i find more interesting is that the whole of the northern hemisphere is cold..that in itself is more remarkable at this time of year????
  13. Its funny how peoples perception of the same season differs...i remember 1998 as being a non descript summer..not as bad as 1992 or 1993 and definitely better than 2007..in fact i think 1998 was probably the least interesting year of the 1990s weather wise (apart from a warm February)...still with regards to summer the 1990s was the best decade for warm summer months in my life time.
  14. T'was a thoroughly miserable weekend just gone very cold..5cm of snow yesterday temps never got above -14c and with a hefty north easterly wind the windchill stuck around -25c throughout. March potentially could turn into a cold cold month
  15. That's nothing we have only had 26mm of precip so far this year which is just 1inch which is less than half of what they have received in California..in fact February was almost completely dry here. All to do with that big pacific high pressure cell that set up through virtually all of January and Feb.
  16. i think it will be up to 4 here in Calgary..trouble is with max predicted at -10c or lower this weekend i think the sun longer and mosquito spray is safe for another week
  17. we got just over 5cms here..and was the worst drive into work so far this season..had no problems when we had 25cm or 30cm..but the Deerfoot was a nightmare this morning..and i went to work at 5.15am what normally takes 20 mins took an hour and 45.
  18. we have had a cold snowy start to spring here in Western Canada and the charts keep this going..often cold weather here is replicated to a certain degree across Western Europe
  19. Southern Ontario had a very snowy winter 2010-2011..this year it was snow free pretty much until January
  20. This is the same storm that struck southern Alberta on Sunday..and dumped up to 30cms of snow here.
  21. Not sure about that remember Ontario is a very big province..southern and south west Ontario were not very snowy at all
  22. For my location which is Calgary what is interesting is that much of October and pretty much all of November were colder and snowier than January and February...the winter itself.. December was close to average with a cold spell around Xmas but little in the way of snow apart from the first week... January was mild and sunny with one notable snowfall mid month and a very cold snap in the last 2 days..February apart from a cold first 2 days was very mild and sunny with no snow until the 26th (then only around 5cm)...so as a season as a whole it was a mild winter often very sunny and mostly dry..very similar to last winter but not quite a s mild as 2011-12...in terms of sunshine i would give it a 9/10..in terms of cold and snow i would give it 2/10.
