  1. It’s strange how I can’t remember much about that summer. Just doesn’t stand out like 94 and 95 did for me.
  2. I think most of the 80s were better than summer 2023.
  3. Yeah, definitely a return to those summers of 2007-12. It’s been shockingly bad.
  4. No thanks. We need a dry heat with clear blue skies. All this cloud cover makes for very boring weather. Would love the autumn and winter to be dry and cool.
  5. 97 was one from memory. But, it was more humid than this summer and quite cloudy.
  6. I don’t mind the rain at night, as it sounds relaxing when lying in bed. I’m surprised we haven’t had any storms though.
  7. Or a poor spring can be followed by a wonderful summer, such as 2013, and 2018 to an extent, had a poor early spring.
  8. Yeah, technically mid august now, as it’s 13th day.
  9. Starting to notice the drop in light levels when I wake up on Sundays at 5am. Also, noticing the nights drawing in around 8:30ish now. Losing the daylight much quicker compared to just a week or so ago.
  10. How I miss last summer. Even those 35c days weren’t too bad. Much better than the rubbish from this summer. Just sums up how diabolical summer 2023 has been.
  11. Don't waste your time. As the saying goes 'never argue with a fool, people won't know the difference' Spain, Italy, Portugal. Take your pick.
  12. Well, try and enlighten me, as to why more people have colds this summer. There’s only one explanation, and it’s because the weather has been terrible and not very summery.
  13. Yes it’s been a draining ordeal. I still think a warm spell will set in during early September, and maybe some clearer spells during the winter.
  14. More people staying indoors. More people who work in offices, not outside for lunch as much. Breeding ground for germs probably.
  15. Yeah I think you will be right. The problem with the summery September is, it’s sort of too little too late.
  16. Definitely one of the worst. June 88 was warm and sunny, but it was followed by a less than impressive poor July and mediocre august. 84 was a glorious summer, after the cold damp May.
  17. The cooler temps and unsettled weather causes the immune system to be weaker. The body is more susceptible to catching colds. Warm sunny weather shakes off cold and viruses. This summer has been crap, hence the reason why so many more people are unwell.
  18. Yeah i agree. Its ok until about mid September, but after that under 20c seems more appropriate, and mid teens for October.
  19. First July to fail recording 30c since Gary Numan and Boomtown Rats were having hits? I thought 1987 failed to reach 30c in July that year.
  20. So, basically you've only had 2018 and 2022 as decent summers. 2019, 20, and 21 were disappointments, although not as dire as 23.
  21. Yes, a warm to hot summer with lots of sunshine would make the sea more inviting to swim in. Cloudy and warm, is just as bad a cold and cloudy. The sea still feels chilly from the lack of sunlight. I will no doubt take a dip with my feet, but can't see myself swimming in the sea completely. And to add, there's also the issue with sewage on the beaches. I'll wait until my Greece holiday in September for swimming in the sea.
  22. What would be good is an overnight storm drifting into western areas, and gradually moving east towards London, then eventually up the east side of the country. We used to get Spanish plumes quite easily at this time of the year.
  23. We will be going even if it’s peeing down. I was acting like a sulky teenager just a few posts ago lol. Just have to see what else there is to do. We won’t be swimming in the sea, regardless of how warm it is. The sea is just too cold here for anything beyond dipping the feet in.
  24. No, this summer is the summer that never really happened. Is it any wonder why people prefer to go to the med for their holidays. I would take 40c over this awful mess of a summer, and that’s how bad I think this summer has been. I would love 25-29c, but it seems difficult to even achieve that for longer periods of time. I like this country, but can see why many people don’t want to have holidays here and always rush to escape to the continent. Everything seems overpriced, poor quality, poor service, and the unpredictable nature of the weather, also adds insult to injury. It’s just a very depressing country to live and work.
  25. Another dreadful day of cloud, and only fleeting sunny spells. Summer 2023 has been a really poor summer. Utterly rubbish. Hasn’t really felt summery apart from a few days last week, and mid June to early July. I hope 2024 doesn’t end up like this.
