  3. lets hope in 10 days time this arrives Times Square Cams - EarthCam WWW.EARTHCAM.COM EarthCam presents an extensive collection of live webcams, featuring the most exciting views of New York City's famous Times Square. 4. Although the main event is the 21st this week on the 16th and 17th a close encounter with the crescent moon will occur. Lets hope for a clear evening
  5. Any activity /solar flares are still minor. More akin to rolling over in bed before you wake up properly
  6. It would not surprise me if it was between 50 and 100. I think we are seeing a rapid switch fom minimum conditions although at this time activity remains very low I mean by this the sunspot number being between 11 and 20 although we have seen some days above this recently
  7. I believe it is something more likely to happen during solar minimum as our magnetosphere tends to be weaker at this time and given the depth of this minimum its something that can happen more often.
  8. a crack in out magnetosphere allowing even slow moving solar wind to cause aura. Not unusual but not predictable either.
  9. It will be ironic if we get decent snowfall no one will be able to go out and enjoy it!!
  10. I agree it is a massive challenge. I have a daughter with CP and uses a power chair and a communication aid, however she is very fit and health. She plays a Paralympic sport and is selected for Tokyo. The advice now given by her coaches and medical support is that she should basically not have contact with anyone outside her close circle of support which means I have to do the same which means no external meetings and everything by conference/video meetings. For all those who have booked delivery slots for the next 3 / 4 weeks consider those who actually have little or no ability to go to the shops. My daughter cannot get a delivery which means she has to rely on others now to buy her basics. There is little consideration being given to the impact on those vulnerable people who may be healthy but are now scared to venture beyond the front door. Little is being done to support these people.
  11. This is getting ridiculous. This is not a war. What next trenches and machine gun posts to stop strangers entering your community? The reason we have these restrictions is because of the effect it has on the most vulnerable. Lets be clear if we didn't have flu vaccines we would be in this position every year. This virus has developed very quickly because we have an open world. Lessons have not been learnt from Sars however we are already seeing promise for a vaccine based on the Sars pathogen. We not be able to vaccinate the whole world by next year but perhaps we will be able to vaccinate the most vulnerable. What this tells us in an open world we should not go down an isolationist route but be open and work with all to achieve common goals
