  1. I was not expecting the Atlantic to get a proper look in for some time. It just goes to show the EC46 looking promising for extending the settled weather does not guarantee we stay settled. Of course this is assuming the GFS is correct. Let's see if the ECM backs it
  2. So as per the deep dive video, hopefully a few thunderstorms about over the weekend then mostly fine weather after that. What I don't want is several days in a row with heavy downpours. Which might be the case if the GFS is correct. Although we have been very lucky these last three weeks. Three weeks of fine weather is rare here!
  3. I like your thinking . I am putting you in charge of the weather from now on:)
  4. Is there anyone left here who would like to see another snowfall before next winter. Step forward and be brave, you are not alone!
  5. I am still hoping for a major snow event that leads to decent accumulations- even if it only lasts a few hours.
  6. A few questions: Did - 20 upper air make it to England in January 1987? If not, has it every happened before? If - 20 air did manage to reach any of us in the next two weeks, what would be the surface temperature at this time of year?
  7. Yes, when i was growing up the period around the Cheltenham Festival was often cold and snowy. It's just that in more recent times it has been milder.
  8. Bank! I hope this does not get watered down now. If this comes off surely there will be settling snow about. I had snow from another system this morning, but none of it stuck again.
  9. Sorry about that. I saw 12 hours of snow but none of it stuck. I would sooner just have had rain. As it's incredibly frustrating when you think about what might have been. I hope you get to see some snow. Maybe you will yet.
  10. After a frustrating day, that promised much but delivered sod all, that made me laugh. In fact most of your posts do. So thanks for that!
  11. It's more or less the same here patchy snow on the grass is all there to show after 9 hours of moderate to heavy snow at times. I think I am done with March snow after this. I got sucked in by models and opinions stating we'd see between 4 to 8 inches of snow. Never again!
  12. A very poor showing here- a bit of snow on the grass and walls.. We are supposed to be under an orange warning for later. I can't see it being warranted for this area . It would seem the heaviest precipitation was further south in the end. Also I see that what was originally supposed to be an all snow event for the Northern third of the country has turned to sleet in many areas. No doubt it will transition back to snow once the system moves away.
  13. Yes, I would agree with all that. Unless we can get a direct hit, with colder uppers than this week, within the next couple of weeks, I would prefer dry spring warmth to get going.
  14. So going by the current output we have seen the best of what the SSW had to offer. I was hoping this March would be similar to March 2013, but alas its not looking likely now based on current guidance.
  15. Well it looks like the poster Tim Bland was right in the post he made yesterday because there is moderate to heavy snow here and it's not sticking at all. At least in my area the predicted accumulations totals are going to be well wide of the mark. I appreciate for higher ground and other spots that might not be the case.
  16. Ground temperature is too warm, perhaps. Is the snow heavy there?
  17. Well, that's maybe bad news for next week then. I was hoping the GEM solution would be correct.
  18. For us too over the water . It could be the most snow since 2010 in fact. I certainly don't live on high ground either(80m asl)
  19. It really is going down to the wire in terms of which places get the most snow. You usually rob all our snow. So it's karma
  20. This is most likely bad news for tomorrow then. The warm ground temperatures won't help matters either.
  21. Being greedy. I would prefer if it did not warm up at all. Still if it's brief and we get another colder turn next week that will do. With one slight upgrade : a red warning with snow for all
  22. I still don't know if my area is going to hit the jackpot on Thursday , some models say yes, others have places further south as the sweet spot.
  23. Well that's a bit disappointing, as the UKMO was showing a good Northerly for early next week, and the GFS was showing it cold again after mid month. I thought with two warmings in the strat that there would be cold spells throughout March. So to now hear we are going back to normal is not good news. Still, if Thursday and Friday deliver, I can live with a return to normal fare.
  24. Disappointing if true, I was hoping the colder would be locked in further south too based on the UKMO output for the 14th.
