  1. If this was inland as opposed to being out in the North Sea, who wants to bet that it'd just loose intensity and fizzle out as it moves northwards?
  2. I don't mean to state the obvious but surely this intense precipitation is just going to skirt by the UK? At least it looks this way so far.
  3. Pretty surprised with how the BBC have confidently worded this for the weather tomorrow. No doubt it'll change by tomorrow so take with a pinch of salt. This is for the East Midlands; "Sunny spells at first but cloud is likely to bubble up, giving heavy showers and thunderstorms. Locally this may be intense with hail, gusty winds and frequent lightning."
  4. The band of rain seems to be barely moving NW, but more of a WNW direction. Looking at the last few frames of the rain radar, will it even make it into Wales at this point or return back to a SW direction?
  5. Been outside now and it feels pretty humid to me. Not particularly stormy looking mind you, as there’s thick cloud and light drizzle.
  6. It might be nothing but in the last few frames of the cloud radar animation, I see this area of cloud developing moving NW?
  7. I don’t think anyone really has much idea as to how much rain and/or if thunder will be accompanied with it for tomorrow and the rest of the week. Probably best to keep an eye on the rain and lightning radars over the next few days!
  8. Although there was no direct hit for me today, its been an awesome day of sunshine and heavy showers, with some awesome cloudscapes. Tomorrow there could be some interest, albeit a lower risk than today, so one to look out for. metcheck: 'A marginal risk of scattered thunderstorms across Central and Western areas on Sunday afternoon due to cooler upper level air as well as diurnal heating.'
  9. Today has been a fabulous day. Sunshine and lots of heavy, thundery showers, albeit moving through quite fast. Not sure how many people will agree with me but I much prefer the variety of this to constant high or low pressure slapped right over us.
  10. A friend posted this from Bletchley about an hour ago. Atmospheric!
  11. There definitely seems to be some overreactions in here regarding the upcoming weather but I won’t get involved. Suffered heavily with hay fever today, unsurprisingly with it being very high, so I welcome this change. There’s something quite satisfying about it raining after a warm/hot spell. Most of all is that distinct smell of rain in the air.
  12. I, for one, am actually looking quite forward to some more changeable and unsettled weather. The settled weather has been nice, however it’s getting a bit repetitive with constant blue skies for weeks upon end. Its the same with any sort of weather really. Too much of it and it becomes repetitive and boring.
  13. It’s quite laughable people in the MOD are complaining of a few below average days forecast with the threat of a little bit of rain. After being spoilt for weeks of above average temperatures, sun and little to no rain, one would think it was the end of the world being forecast!
  14. I mean it’s inevitable to have some ‘bad’ weather after weeks and weeks of settled and warm conditions. I don’t know if I’d even call it bad personally, just cooler and unsettled. I for one would not like it if this settled weather carried on all the way to July or August without any sort of breakdown as it would almost certainly cause droughts and hosepipe bans.
  15. I think any weather which has been dominating for a long period gets boring after a while, be it rain, wind, sun/heat, snow etc. i personally prefer ‘changeable’ weather.
  16. Same here. Everything seems to die over Wales as it heads east for some reason. Possibly due to geographic reasons such as high hills and mountains?
  17. I must be one of the selected few who prefers low pressure systems delivering wind and rain as opposed to high pressure dominating for weeks upon end. Personally I can’t stand high temperatures as they are often hot, sticky and humid in this country. No fun in the day or at night.
  18. A decent amount of rain modelled I assume? As much as the majority like dry, warm and settled weather, we could do with a proper soaking countrywide for a day or two, just momentarily, to stop things from drying out and going yellow.
  19. I'd be surprised if any rain actually makes it to the ground as opposed to staying dry as it looks very light and patchy.
  20. I wouldn't focus too much on models for now. They seem to chop and change quite a bit and often lead to disappointment. I'd just watch the rain radar and/or skies.
  21. It’d be good if this rain approaching from the west could give us an unexpected surprise. The models haven’t exactly been totally reliable recently so who knows
  22. Is it worth staying up overnight to see what/if anything happens or is it better to just wake up tomorrow early in the morning? It must be said, it doesn’t sound very inspiring from what I’ve read so far today.
