  1. Rain bordering on torrential here now and has been raining heavily for a good 10 minutes now. Alas, the corker doesn't seem to want to pop completely.
  2. Lots of lightning now stretching from my North right down to my SW - heaviest raindrops just passed over...its desperately trying here but no cigar.
  3. I've only got cloud flickers (some extremely bright) to my north and west and south west...that line is simply not budging so may call it quits soon and scuttle off to bed...I did say to myself that I'd wait until midnight so will hold tight for another 45 mins...but signs not great for anywhere east of say Heathrow and south of say Cambridge currently...oh there we go mocked again, convective style precipitation for about 60 seconds lol
  4. Flashing like a nutter to my north...lot of high level flickers which makes it difficult to tell if it's all from that cluster...occasional very bright cloud flashes on the southern side. To mock me it continues to try and spit lol
  5. May be the pessimist in me but I'm beginning to think the primary zone of interest is now passing. Sky flashing increasingly like a beaut to my North while clearing more here...I said to myself I'd give it until midnight, but unless something springs further south or east, that North London cluster may be the indicated MCS
  6. Am praying I get something tonight - was disappointed as I hadn't quite got my video camera settings right so was all heavily blurry (in a nutshell, had autofocus on). Fortunately despite the frequency of the lightning being worth capturing, bar a few awesome CGs is mostly strobe with poor thunder (locally). Fingers crossed some of it budges East as based on what's happened so far, there's plenty of potential for some nice displays and maybe something nudging a little close to severe
  7. Hope Torro are right...as they say, only appears to be the western edge of the plume destabilising at the moment.
  8. Ok have a vantage point now on the western storms...three flashes in fairly quick succession...make that four...no five...actually six....it's a hell of a lot more active than blitzortung is given it credit for!!! Nope, seven, eight...fiery minx!!!
  9. Figures...precip trying to pep up here, occasional heavier bursts. Nothing electrical though, definitely not the powder keg of two weeks ago. Not even seen a flicker yet to my west.
  10. Just started lightly raining here...what a beast...or not, lol!
  11. Oh bugger...I'm not too far from you and can't see it from here...too much low cloud pouring in. Humidity jumped a notch again (or so it feels anyway)
  12. Casual observation but noting I don't have a giant metre stick handy, the cloud bases to me look lower than two weeks ago. If this is the case then I would draw attention to the severe risk associated with storms, as noted particularly in Nick's forecast and that too of Estofex. Another, again perhaps minor observation, aeroplanes taking an usual route over my way currently.
  13. Radar suggests cell has fired just south of Hounslow and another just south of Horley
  14. Skies going ominously dark to my South, though unfortunately unable to give much of a cloud description beyond that. Sky looking more convective to my East now too. Update - might sound a little minor but just felt a warm and humid breeze for the first time...the juice is here.
  15. What on earth is that that has exploded SW of London? Talk about out of the blue!!
  16. In foreign news, cell about 100 miles south of Paris blooming in fine style, along with others along a pronounced trough(?) stretching well over a 1,500 miles down into North Africa.
  17. Keep the great pics coming guys - beautiful images. Not often you see such a fine example of an elevated cell...usually they are surrounded in murk or as the Sherminator dubs cluster-procreation. I'd suggest an extremely rare sight around these shores indeed.
  18. Activity dropping off that IoW cell, or so it appears to me anyway. Getting nearer the time of proper initiation now so if she's going to blow, it'll be in the next 1-2 hours I suggest
  19. As NMM and GFS have been steadfast in suggesting will evolve...next 2-3 hours looking interesting and as night fades will hopefully give more of us a shout at flash spotting
  20. Gorgeous! So far, model wise I'd say NMM5 and NMM10 and GFS on the money. If you take a peak at how they evolve proceedings....No chicken counting though, anything can happen. In the past 5 minutes, this is my view looking west...nice little AcCas turrets (not textbook though granted but some vertical motion) And looking east...nice mid level Cu but not exactly taking off
  21. And, as the white crosshair on blitzortung would corroborate
  22. Looking SE?? Nowt on radar, nor sferics. Wouldn't be surprised if you were looking SW from your vantage point as I'm sure you'd see at least the tops of that line of cells.
  23. Welcome dude - enjoy the ride - any acronyms you're unsure of or terms, quick google search should help you right out to get you up to speed not to say people here won't help you out, but during peak times (which tonight will hopefully be) queries might get lost in the pandemonium All or any pics or vids you get for today's activities, even if some convective cloudscapes, please post them here.
  24. Visually, murk now clearing and a couple of AcCas towers visible to my South.
