  1. It never ceases to amaze me how some data fed into a computer can cause such issues that would have a watching psychiatrist rubbing his hands with glee...at the end of the day, as a NW colleague recently mentioned, the model outputs do not control the weather, it;s the other way around and I think a few posters need to engage this dictum before posting knee-jerk reactions if a run doesn't suit their own weather preferences.
  2. Yep, the time is fast approaching...and for us which colour will dominate this afternoon?...cold blues or blow torch reds?......What will be shown in this afternoon's F1?.....Yes, it's time for the Brazilian GP! ......
  3. plenty of flooding around here...The River Avon is a major cause for concern locally as flood waters are still filtering into the area from upstream and more rain is forecast...Flood warnings locally for Chippenham, Melksham & Calne
  4. latest NWx radar grab for our region....awful, just awful....torrential rain pushing back N/NE into Som/Wilts
  5. looking at the persistent echoes across east dartmoor, I'm also concerned about flooding along the River Dart & Teign....Newton Abbot & Totnes is particular
  6. not looking good for us down in the SW....PPN is really wrapping around the LP centre and said mass is starting to push NEwards back into Somerset/Gloucester/Wilts......devon & cornwall have already be slammed by the PPN wraparound, still raining heavily there, but the good news (if there is any on a night like this) is that a clearance of sorts is moving into Cornwall & South Devon
  7. not looking good for us down in the SW....PPN is really wrapping around the LP centre and said mass is starting to push NEwards back into Somerset/Gloucester/Wilts
  8. Yes, some very heavy rainfall for you guys both tonight and tomorrow night/monday morning......Here's the hi-res NMM rainfall total projections based on the 12z run (worth baring in mind that the 18z run which comes out around 2300z could see these projections becoming even bigger!) image courtesy NW Extra
  9. The only snow you'll get this winter is when you realize you've used the wrong anti-dandruff shampoo....lol......Yep, we moved a month or so ago, and the first weekend in our new place we had 2 inches of snowfall on the sunday morning!...Not too shabby!....... I'll be watching the midlands thread still with keen interest, and I guess if we have frontal snow events further south, then you'll know you'll be in luck
  10. Odd....to say the least!....We drove home from the Asda-Walmart and it was horrendous!
  11. Stone me, it's lashed it down here tonight!.....absolutely torrential rain, almost certainly going to be further flooding in the Wilts/Somerset/Gloucestershire regions
  12. Yes, those midland mincers wouldn't know nasty weather even if it walked up and slapped them saying 'nasty weather' is here again..... .
  13. Where in Swindon are you?...I assure you it was torrential...I drove back from Haydon Wick to Lyneham and despite it being less than 10 miles, it was one of the most unpleasant driving experiences I've had
  14. just had an hour or torrential rain....roads are like rivers, thank goodness we're on fairly high ground current radar grab illustrating arc of intense rainfall....
  15. The rain is setting in here now....and looking at the hi-res output, an awful lot more to come the next 48 hours....not good for areas already suffering from flooding issues
  16. yes, this weekend has potential for some very bad flooding in our neck of the woods, and even if the leading edge of tonight's CF is now passing in towards the home counties we still have a few hours of persistent rain here further west before the system exits
  17. Just had a look on the radar for my area, and I think the following sums it up quite nicely...... "Knock Knock" Who's there? "Del" Del who? "Del-uge......Incoming!"
  18. Very strong sustained winds now here in Wilts, in excess of 30 mph sustained with gusts still well in excess of 50 mph....Just walked back from the shop, and when the gusts hit, it was a case of one step forwards, two steps back, an impressive audition for 'Strictly Come Dancing' I might add...lol.....House lights flickering to boot...Rain belt not a million miles away now, about 25-30 miles to the west to be more accurate, and stone me, that squall line is looking impressive on radar!! Here's a quick radar grab centered on my post-code (Image courtesy of NW Extra)
  19. What's more alarming is what else I've noticed.....there are so many in your posts Tony....You drink far too much....Now, where's my pint dammit!.....lol
  20. just down the road from (and up the hill) from you, and it's blowing a hooley here, gusts well over 50 mph, and it sounds like a non-stop roar!....Squall line's probably a couple or so hours away, and will no doubt bring some flooding to low-laying nearby areas, Chippenham, parts of Swindon, Calne etc
  21. gusting up to 50 mph here now, quite a few tree branches down, and the squall line is still a good 100+ miles to my west....oh dear, it will be fun and games here later on this evening
  22. yes, some convective activity pepping up ahead of the Cold Front....I would expect the front itself to start intensifying soon, as a peek at the GFS & hi-res output shows the front should tap into some pretty moist warm air pumped up all the way from the azores.....Should be an interesting next 12 hours to say the least!
  23. Welcome back mate, long time, no see.....Blimey you can certainly tell that winter is coming as Andy's back on the forums as well.....May god have mercy on us all!....lol
  24. You're a busy man, posting here, then dashing off for the telly forecast! As we're new to the area, my other half still doesn't believe me when I show her your posts and say "look, it's the man from the telly"....lol Looking grim tomorrow evening for our neck of the woods, the NMM hi-res output is really 'bigging' up PPN totals and wind gusts. I was supposed to be driving to and from Southampton tomorrow evening, needless to say I've cancelled the trip!
