  1. A little vid of the heavy snow around 11am yesterday. Not the most insteresting setting but boy was it coming down! Videos don’t format very well on mobile, just click the play button to see it. E5578879-7AF8-493E-B083-E19B5C425F4C.MOV
  2. The intricacies of an unstable airmass stalling against a cold airmass will always be a very difficult, if not impossible situation to model. As many of us said yesterday it would be a nowcast type period, and boy did that scenario come true!! At one point yesterday afternoon I had lost all hope of even seeing a flake! And we ended up with 6inches. Even Cornwall go hammered which was not forecast. And to add to that the Mets last minute Amber warning this morning ended up being to Far East! So all in all we have reinforced the fact that weather models are not always on the money, they are mear mortals at the end of the day. Granted sometimes they are excellent, and if this has been a rain event no one would have taken much notice (and that’s the important bit) but as its snowfall and we follow every second it highlights the issues. Macro scale features will often pop up at the last minute. Enjoy the moment if you got a pasting, look forward to the next one, but remember how today unfolded and hold it in the back of your mind for further events
  3. Well that was epic! Elevation has helped with the thaw mind, took a drive five miles west earlier and it’s a slushy mess. However here in Stroud at 150 meters it’s still a winter wonderland. Some pics from the day.
  4. It quite amazing! Don’t think I can remember seeing snow like it! Way more than we seen from the Beast last year, much deeper and fluffier. Though that was a different scenario with the blowing powder snow. loving it.
  5. STILL coming down thick and fast!! 3C3B9F5D-D671-469D-8395-4E10393FE964.MOV
  6. Deepest snow here (Stroud) since 2009 I reckon!! Getting on for 6 inches.
  7. Can’t wait to take out the new beast tomorrow, first time ive had the chance to use the 4wd for a reason lol
  8. Steady light to moderate snow here for a few hours now. Good covering
  9. The second you go to bed, it’ll start coming down sooooo heavy, youll miss it....
  10. That’s the prediction, go to ‘last 6hours’ that’s the live radar.
  11. With the later arrival of the ppn the cold dry air has established making the snow much dryer.
  12. Yes, noted this earlier bell. Could be interesting, but as I said earlier the apps or forecasts haven’t been to great so far, hopefully they now have a better idea of developments and it’ll be spot on.
  13. All our streetlights are now white LED, the days of the orange night glow in the snow are now gone forever. Kinda miss it.
  14. Yes it’s just the MET OFFICE weather app. Click on UK map and go to last 6 hours.
  15. Just having a fag out the window watching the (light) snow fall on a deserted street and heard a distant shout ......”Its snowing” love it .
  16. Looks like quite a poor rendering from that perticualt radar site. MET OFFICE radar for same time, much more detailed and realistic, higher res and quality?
  17. Not directly lol, but the front will be energised from the east as it moves north, so hopefully we will see that transfer of energy towards us.
  18. Radar looking way better now, everything heading slowly north and shearing east. hopefully will bring those who haven’t seen anything into the game
