  1. One of the world's most iconic volcanoes, Mount Fuji in Japan, is under a lot of pressure and may well be heading for an eruption! This one hasn't erupted for about 300 years! http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2012-09/06/mount-fuji This increase in pressure is believed to be the result of the mega earthquake of March 2011! Karyo
  2. This has to be the most boring eruption since I started following the volcanic activity! Karyo
  3. Thank you for that, it's an amazing place! I hope I can visit Equador one day. Karyo
  4. That's amazing as the eruption is so close to the Puyehue volcano which was erupting for much of last year! In theory, this eruption shouldn't be as large or long lasting. Karyo
  5. Wow! Spectacular eruption of Sakurajima in Japan! http://www.itn.co.uk/home/51250/Japanese+volcano+erupts Karyo
  6. Thanks John, that's very imformative. Karyo
  7. Thank you John, I am referring to Mount Tongarino in New Zeeland. Karyo
  8. What kind of eruptions does this volcano give? Karyo
  9. It looks like a very interesting outlook if you like convective weather! My only concern is all this northern blocking contributing to fast ice melt in the Arctic! Karyo
  10. Those earthquakes are quite strong! Especially compared to Katla and El Hierro. Karyo
  11. Also, the solar flux has crashed to 88 which must be the lowest it has been for the last year! Karyo
  12. Yes John, at 5km it is deep enough to be a 'proper' earthquake. Katla had a quiet start to the year but the latest activity is interesting. I'd love her to blow when we have a high pressure spell which is ideal for volcanic sunsets! :-)
  13. Katla is keeping us interested! The quakes are very small though so maybe some of them are due to seasonal glacial melt. Karyo
  14. I wonder what are the chances of eruption before the end of summer...
  15. Did you see anything before it became overcast? Karyo
  16. Indeed, Popo has been active! I visit this webcam every day and often treated with some impressive cumulunimbus which is a bonus! http://www.cenapred.unam.mx/popo/UltimaImagenVolcanI.html Karyo
  17. Low pressure galore for next week according to all major models. The ECM in particular is showing some rather deep southerly tracking lows! There should be some nice convective weather between the rain bands. I wonder to what extend the low solar activity is responsible for this? Karyo
  18. Solar activity is low once again and the solar flux at 106. Quiet times! Karyo
  19. Popocatepetl is looking rather active lately! http://www.cenapred.unam.mx/popo/UltimaImagenVolcanI.html Karyo
  20. Indeed! And the solar flux has fallen further: 117 Karyo
  21. Another quiet day! QUIET SUN: With no sunspots actively flaring, the sun's x-ray output has flatlined. Solar activity is low, and likely to remain so for the next 24 hours. The solar flux has dropped to 121 Karyo
  22. I mean that the sun has been quiet for much of the time. Any active periods are short-lived! Karyo
  23. From spaceweather.com: QUIET SUN: With no sunspots actively flaring, the sun's x-ray output has flatlined. Solar activity is very low, and likely to remain so for the next 24 hours. Says it all really... Karyo
  24. Thanks John, the wait for Katla continues... Karyo
  25. Some more info here: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/196575/guatemalas-fuego-volcano-belches-ash-lava The column of ash has reached 5,000 metres. Karyo
