  1. Yes, an interesting FI from a cold perspective although most people are fed up of waiting and have left the building! The operational is colder than the mean but overall a turn towards colder weather on the ensembles: http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=ensviewer;sess= Karyo
  2. hi there, can you please provide us with a link? I find your statement very interesting for obvious reasons! Karyo
  3. Solar flux down to 103 again with only two small spots on the visible side of the sun! Karyo
  4. Agreed. Even if it comes up with a VEI5 eruption it's unlikely to have a big impact on the climate. A VEI 6 is unlikely but could make things a bit more interesting especially if it happened in the May-July period. Karyo
  5. I doubt there will be a significant effect on the climate from Katla. Her eruptions are not big enough. Unless she produces an unprecedented aruption which is unlikely based on its history. Karyo
  6. There is some earthquake activity in Katla volcano, Iceland. http://www.jonfr.com/volcano/ I hope she waits 2-3 months before she erupts. We will then benefit from the long daylight hours. Karyo
  7. The Pennines will be dry tonight and that also goes for the 80% of the region. Karyo
  8. It's looking good for southwestern extremities of our region. Manchester a bit too far north and east for anything meaningful tonight. Karyo
  9. There are some showers just off the coast. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/
  10. Lol! Don't get me wrong, it's better than a southwesterly but I just wish this cold spell had more duration and favourable wind direction. The blob of heavy showers over northern Ireland may prove interesting if it can get here. Karyo
  11. Our window of opportunity is very small. Mainly early evening. Later the wind will turn more northerly so most of the showers will be over the Irish sea and north Wales. Again southwestern extemities of our region should continue to see them through the night. Karyo
  12. That sounds good to me! Imagine if we see a spotless day in the near future! Oh, I can dream... Karyo
  13. The 18z is also not giving us any decent snow chances. A dry north/northwesterly for the most part. North Wales the place to be! Karyo
  14. The 12z UKMO is also looking pretty dire for precipitation. Too much of a northerly in the wind and pressure quickly rising from the west. At least it's still looking good for a frost! lol Karyo
  15. Temperatures should remain above freezing for the most part, apart from the early hours of Sun and then Sun evening. Anyway, according to the 12z gfs most of the shower activity is likely in the are of North Wales and the southwestern extremities of our region. Karyo
  16. The CFS is not looking promising for winter weather in March. Unless it changes but it will have to do so pretty soon. Karyo
  17. I'd love to see a really cold March for a change! Especially after our underwhelming winter. After March I tend to lose my interest in the weather and focus on volcanic and solar activity. Karyo
  18. I hope so Steve. I find this quiet period quite encouraging. I am missing your posts here about the spotless sun (2008). Karyo
  19. The solar flux has now fallen to 105 sfu. Another small drop and we will be below 100 soon. Karyo
  20. Thank you for the update GP. I love the comment about the slumbering sun! Karyo
  21. It's like the 4th February. There was a decent fall of snow in Manchester and I was in Brussels. However, it didn't bother me as there was snow there and a -6c maximum temperature! Karyo
  22. It will be all over by Monday, it's a very brief cold spell. Hopefully some snow showers Sat evening into Sunday. Karyo
