    The 11:30 radar shows the band starting to weaken just north of Manchester. Coastal areas should still see snow there as they benefit from some moisture from the Irish sea. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/ Karyo

    That's certainly a possibility! Visibility has greatly increased now and there is some brightness around so I can'tsee any heavy snow coming for now! Karyo

    Good to see the almost stalled band keeping it's intensity and also showing signs of slowly moving southwards! I've had mainly light snow for the last half an hour. The sky to my south is bright and I can see the outline of some clouds while to the north it has a uniform dark white colour! Karyo

    It is starting to snow here once again. It seems the band from the north ic closing in! Just watched the latest bbc24 forecasts. We will have an easterly wind for the latter part of the week with snow showers mainly for the east but some will cross the region. Peter Gibbs said that Scotland under high pressure/clear skies will severe severe minimums of -20c!!! Karyo

    It's great to have the day off due to snow, isn't it? We should see some more from the north, later this morning. Then it should dry up this afternoon and start to freeze. The breeze will start coming from the north/northeast so no Irish sea modification. Karyo

    The snow has just stopped falling here. The 9am radar shows an area of intense snow just northwest of Manchester. I hope it gets here. Karyo

    Just phoned work and there was only one member of staff in the office! She said she had to walk (she only lives a mile from work). Buses are not currently running until further notice so I said I will attempt to go to work once they start running again! A nice morning off work! Thick snow continuing to fall. Edit: totally agree with Happy Days, this is a major event and we should enjoy it as much as possible! Karyo

    The 3 main models look outstanding this morning with no end in sight to the cold spell! Even the gfs has improved! I have 15cm of snow in Manchester city centre and it's here to stay and freeze! Karyo

    Moderate snow is falling here. Let's hope we hang on to those bands of snow for as long as possible! The great thing is, that there's hardly going to be any thaw in the next few days! This is turning out to be the best winter I've ever seen in the UK (since 1997)! Karyo

    Indeed, we had those Irish sea snow showers on and off all night and now the main band! Just heard on breakfast news that Manchester airport flights are suspended till 9am! Karyo

    Good morning everybody! Just woke up and it's like a scene from the Day after Tomorrow in Manchester city centre! I have 7cm on my balcony and thick snow is still falling! Karyo
