  1. It's bloody freezing up here.   How do you lot do it?
  2. What's your first language in that situation then? I know I sound incredibly Dorset by that point, so I'm not really one to talk!
  3. OI! Save it for when I'm back in NG7! I don't want my journey up to Nottingham tomorrow to be any more difficult. Or to bore people on this thread by keep mentioning I'm going to Nottingham tomorrow...
  4. Don't worry, I think I'm taking over from where Andy left off last night! Worse still, I'm on my own and driving tomorrow. Although the good news is there's no Cider Brandy left...
  5. Something like this? There's another one I had in mind, let's see if I can find it...
  6. Cheers guys! One of the reasons (among many, including seeing some snow) for going up to Nottingham early was to escape any potential severe conditions in the future. I'd have thought it'd be OK being all main roads and that, but you never know. If there is any snow, I reckon my little Peugeot 106 can handle it? Question is, can I? Thanks again!
  7. So, Midlanders! I am driving up to Nottingham tomorrow and have a slight query: What are the road conditions like? I'm a bit concerned about potential snow as soon as I get into the north (that'll be the junction for Chievley and the M4 in Berkshire). So, how's the A34 (to Oxford), M40, A46 (Coventry Ring Road), M69, M1 and A52 (into Nottingham) looking? Any clues? Unfortunately for me, things are looking like they'll only get worse... And a weather report from the South Coast - it's been raining today, but it's stopped now.
  8. Somehow, I don't think metric would have the same effect...e.g. "I'd love to wake up in the morning and see 15cm, would be white all around!"
  9. Couldn't agree with you more. Somehow, girls don't seem that bothered by -10 850s straddling the country or a 1050mb Greenland High. I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong... Oh, and I've got a much bigger example than the one I gave in the last thread...I'd say I'm used to this!
  10. As a South Westerner, that stuff is BLASPHEMY! Yuk, disgusting stuff, get some proper cider in you...
  11. Aww man - maybe the Midlands thread has had too much booze! But yep - know what you mean! Had it within the space of a day about 2 weeks ago in Bournemouth. Not the best feeling...
  12. Well, not until after Friday, after I've fended off the inevitable hangover! Don't worry, I'll bring the precipitation from the south. You just provide the cold air (we need that imported), then we'll be onto a winner. I must say, I'm a little worried about what driving conditions might be like on Wednesday, as my route requires me to drive through Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, 2 counties in which snow might fall significantly. Not worried about Leics, Derbys or Notts, mind!
  13. Looks like from when I'm back up in the Midlands on Wednesday, it'll be like I've never left the South West Thread with the rampant alcoholism! Though if I am on this thread from Weds onwards, please, can someone tell me to bugger off and revise?
  14. Just so long as it doesn't stop me getting up to Nottingham at any time, I'll be happy. And just so long as I actually see some snow - you may not realise that the county of Dorset barely had any snow...
  15. To quote Kev from Dorset Scrumpy and Western Band "Who's Afear'd" at Endorse it in Dorset 2009: "Brixham? Isn't that in London?" Before their parody of Imagine. First line: "Imagine there's no Devon, would that make you cry?" I'll comment in the thread tomorrow (I promise I won't copy and paste Agnew's blog to make me look knowledgable) - today was a bit of an odd day. I might have something balanced tomorrow! (I love the way this has just turned into banter again - as the SW thread was before!)
  16. Northern? Moi? Would you like gravy with that chip on your shoulder - I forgot that's what northerners preferred when I wrote my earlier status. Of course, it wouldn't survive down your coal mines. Oh, and Poole Pottery is better than all that Staffordshire rubbish! I wish heavy rain upon you - *waves magic wand*.
  17. Guys, please leave it out. We've not had the futile bickering that has infected other threads here in the SW thread, please don't start now. Chill, and have a cider or something! For the record - the midweek event is likely to be rain to snow. Yes, it'll rain down here at first while they get snow oop north, but we ought to get some snow as the system clears. Though the further south the system tracks, the better our chances and the more snow we'd be likely to get. How dare you post above me!
  18. I agree with most of the post - but the reason is not because of any Southern bias from what I've seen. I've seen little Southern moaning - if anything, it's from people north of the River Trent, who seem to be dreaming about moaning Southerners. However, I made this point in the Pessimistic Thread, so don't really want to repeat myself. We just need people to engage brain a little here. And just because a low is 50 miles further north shouldn't induce suicidal tendancies (although further south would help prolong the pattern from what I've seen). I honestly can't believe how frustrated people can get about the weather. It's only snow, there are bigger and more important things in life than snow. My happiness isn't dictated by looking at a foot of snow along Bournemouth Beach. As I said on Pess thread - I think we all need a drink and to chill out some.
  19. I see the Dorset snow shield has been included into the models now! Anyhow, Merry Christmas to all!
  20. Don't make me feel any worse for missing out on the snow I could have had up at uni in Nottingham than I already do...
  21. Shhh! You've had snow, us in Dorset deserve a bit of fun from this spell, as we've not had much snow!
