  1. See, I just don't know why I didn't go down the beach and have a good sunbathe today. :o The sugar coating on our lawn looks like it stuck around all day, though you have to strain your eyes in order to see the white stuff...
  2. Being right on the Dorset/Hampshire border (more or less, a mile to the Dorset side), it's looking pretty still here. I notice that there's been some starting to come down in Southampton, so not far. BBC Radio Solent are pretty much just broadcasting all the road closures constantly and snow based disruption.
  3. Cowes? Ryde? Shanklin? Ventnor? Newport? Just teasing!
  4. I'm amazed by just how dry the road outside here in Verwood (East Dorset) is - I believe this is indicative of low dew points, so little worry about them. Was in Bournemouth earlier, walking along East Overcliff when I was rudely interrupted by a snow shower. Pretty hopeful for us in East Dorset to get a covering, BBC South indicating snow falling until about 3 on Friday afternoon...guess it needs to start first!
  5. I don't know if this is rubbing it in, but we've got snow here right in the east of the South West. Just drove to the supermarket in what was unmistakably snow.
  6. I can report, with a heavy heart, that the sleet that has been falling is now falling as snow in BH31. Unfortunately, I'm now off for a night out in Bournemouth, which means I'm going to have to drive and go out tonight in falling snow. Nice one.
  7. Well, given I'm in East Dorset (about as east as it comes, in fact), I'm not holding my breath for anything tonight. I'd reckon any precipitation would likely fall as rain or sleet rather than snow, certainly wouldn't stick around. I have no scientific basis for this except my own intuition!
  8. On the BBC Weather site, there is a forecast video box on the right hand side. Play the video there! For Points West: http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/3?&search=bristol&itemsPerPage=10&region=uk For Spotlight: http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/13?&search=plymouth&itemsPerPage=10&region=uk For South Today: http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/318 Hope that helps!
  9. Fizzy. No wonder you're on the naughty step...
  10. I'm hopping between both...besides, the South Central one doesn't seem particularly lively...
  11. ...Which will no doubt be using the GFS 06Z Operational run. Which has no agreement from its own ensemble suite or the European Models (UKMO, ECM). We'll get some snow for a few days, hardly snowmageddon, mind, but it's not quite as dire as you're painting it.
  12. Don't drink any of the fizzy stuff! Pah! Go to their farm in Sandford and get yourself some Cheddar Valley! And to think you're from cider land... Just to say (as I did on the South Central thread) that our presenter on South Today seemed to have trouble containing her excitement! "I'm going to have to temper what I say, but there might be some sleet around..." You could just tell she wanted to say that snow was on its way!
  13. The presenter on South Today's weather forecast seemed to find it hard to contain her excitement...
  14. I know the feeling well, but I'm sure it's worse in Weymouth! I'd much rather have a longer Easterly regime. Though, I hope we get some snow - I'm sure the match down at Dean Court on Monday evening could do with being postponed after Saturday's exploits (even if I am planning to go to it)!
  15. Sounds good from here! As for tonight, it could be an interesting one. Caught the BBC South bulletin at lunchtime, said snow over the hills, yet the precipitation depicted was rain, forecast to fall at temps of -1! Might get a few sleet showers in Dorset, we'll wait and see, I'm not holding my breath for anything exceptional...yet!
  16. Same here, but with different regions. I'm covered by South Western Ambulance Service, I'm in the South West EU Parliament Constituency, but my local news is provided by BBC South! South Central is a pretty nondescript term, so I think I'll use South West!
  17. I've just got back from the frozen wastelands of the East Midlands (namely Nottingham) and it feels positively balmy by comparison in East Dorset! Think it might be time to fire up that barbecue again! :winky:
  18. I'm not sure, as I was driving between Nottingham and Bournemouth at the time, but I'd hazard a guess that this website kept going off. :winky:
  19. OMG IT'S NOT GOING TO SNOW WINTER IS OVERRRRR!!11 It really isn't. This could be the first time I see snow in Dorset in December in over a decade. I think most people on here really need to get a grip... Also people, let us welcome the swear filter's new addition through this pic...
  20. I believe the way around this is to say christmas pudding... It's important to make it a proper noun! Oh wait, maybe not! That didn't happen last night...
  21. 30 secs? I refute that allegation - I was waiting about 2 mins before you posted! Maybe the strength of connection is better in Nottingham than Leicester... I can't see anywhere for this ECM operation to finish in its ensembles other than the colder end. If this is not a colder run (or even outlier), then the Pope is not Catholic.
  22. Judging by this: I'd have a guess and say that perhaps the ECM is modelling the Earth's rotation on its axis being reversed overnight!
  23. Are we allowed to ramp windspeeds? http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/dayforecast.asp?zipcode=BH31&day=7 I don't think God likes Dorset very much... (Oddly, I picked this up off a football forum, with the best quote ever of "I see your 276mph and I raise you my 331mph")
  24. Well, when I have a Grimsby supporting housemate, what did you expect? Now, watch what I do with these quotes... Yep, I certainly am right, not the only one, and it will actually happen! To keep in touch with the thread...yeah, there's gonna be a ramp built to the Moon soon enough if half of these keep up...
