  1. Really? I was under the impression that nothing beginning with the letter S would win that match!
  2. And within 2 hours, it looks like it's time to whip out those ramps again judging by the pool of saliva in MOD, thanks to the UKMO and the early stages of the ECM!
  3. Tut tut, looks like the GFS has been drinking on a school night looking at that. It'll be going into work with a nasty hangover...
  4. I think someone up in the sky has got a bucket of water and just gone "Hasta la vista, Nottingham!" right at this moment.
  5. There seems to be a massive break that's on course for the north Derbys (Chesterfield) and north Notts (Worksop) areas, is that where the potential tornadic activity may occur?
  6. Well, it's certainly blowing one out there here in Nottingham! It'll be a shame if I'm all tucked up in bed by the time this squall line comes though...
  7. Well, not long after that we had some freakish weather in Nottingham, so potential hangover from that cell?
  8. Oh...so that's what it was... The weather had a funny spell about half an hour ago, certainly...
  9. Just to say some extreme, out of the blue conditions are here in Nottingham at the moment. Horizontal rain, and coming down heavily, all in a 5 min burst. Some crazy weather!
  10. And from somewhere other than Newcastle, preferably!
  11. At A-Level Biology, we were told there were only 5 kingdom classifications for organisms. Pretty much my first lecture at university studying Biochemistry, we were duly told there were 6. Lovely.
  12. I was doing AS Physics at the time - I suppose he would have actually liked some students to have carried on to A2, so probably wanted to keep me curious. Unfortunately for him, 5 A-Levels were too much and I wasn't ditching French. As you say about "nothing" - I guess this is why we like believe in life after death. It is impossible for the mind to comprehend existence before birth or after death. I've tried, and failed often.
  13. I used to ask my physics teacher at school what was existed outside the universe - i.e. what is it expanding into? Somehow, he never gave me a satisfactory response...
  14. Well, I've had my power knocked out all day! Was driving along some country roads here in East Dorset today and saw many fallen bits of tree, branches and the like blocking the roads a little sometimes. Some trees had fallen over, but not completely. Bit a very wild day round here, but that's all the fun of the fair!
  15. This rain is coming down incredibly hard! Some poor bloke's dropped a charity bag through are letter box and is now sheltering in our porch! It is absolutely teeming it down out there. I'm going into Bournemouth this afternoon, gonna be a bit worried about water on the A338.
  16. Haha - sorry, should make it clear that I've come home for the weekend, so I'm in East Dorset at the moment! But the drive down from Nottingham yesterday had some insane driving conditions in places. I would have been playing football today at Grove Farm (the UoN Sports Place by the River Trent) but apparently the fields are waterlogged, so it got cancelled!
  17. That's because Nottingham is permanently grey anyway! Though it's not as if Nottingham hasn't been hit, went up the pub on Thursday night to find Faraday Road (Radford/Lenton) flooded on its junction with Ilkeston Road.
  18. Damn, you stole my thunder! It's very grey out there, very windy too, with rain on and off. I think people are mistaken if they think this one is a non-event. Got woken up at half 6 this morning by rain/hail (didn't look which) drumming an incredible tattoo against my bedroom window, absolutely insane. Then just stopped, all of a sudden. 19. Yeah, I'd imagine so. I remember a year or so back where all of the Levels got flashed, Shepton too. Just thinking of my mate who's back house sitting in Huish Episcopi! Still, could be worse, you could be living on Christchurch Harbour with a severe flood warning. Was nearly thinking of going down there, before I remembered how far I've driven today.
  20. Any chance of flash flooding in your part of the world again? From what I remember, that area is rather prone if it rains heavily. But if the river's topped up anyway...
  21. Just had another nice bout of rain. It's miserable out there. Something fell over at one point with a rather loud noise outside, didn't find out what. I'm looking forward to seeing Devon overhead soon! :)
  22. I've just driven all the way down to Dorset from Nottingham and some of the weather along the way has been pretty horrendous. Very windy outside round here as well - don't think I've seen it like this in my short time aboard this planet.
  23. Haha! I know the one you mean...there's a cut down onto Castle Boulevard if you're coming back though! I've been caught out by it too...
  24. Good luck bud! Making a bit more progress than me though, I've still got to apply for PhD and MSc courses...I'm just putting it off too much!
